Very bad selection of dates for voting... Apr 17 was one of the biggest voting phases & we had a long weekend. Now Apr 30 is another big phase, again a long weekend.. Seriously EC should do a evaluation of how they sets dates.

@ Deto Don't really disagree with what you've said. But cheap skilled labour is not the only reason industries and manufacturing specifically is moving to Gujarat. The other main reason is that the government policy there is very pro Industry. Easy acess to reasonable amounts of credit which can be paid back gradually. Relatively cheap land. Power at a reasonable rate. No unnecessary tarrifs on certain machines/processes which are in other states (read Maharashtra). A lot of industry has been shifting to Gujarat. And this has been going on for quite some time now.

^ Well, unless your trade value is more than 30L, and if you are able to buy stuff for credit, it's hard to yeild profit there. Wealthy traders can thrive here, but not the mid level ones. You have to do a lot of ground work before investing. Yes, Gujrat is very pro industry and recently many are shifting here. But you have to look which type of industry is moving here. Industrial paints and petrochemicals, soda ash, fertilizers, fabric dyes, polyester and synthetic textiles, gel base, plastic colors etc., These industries are very profitable for traders and exporters, but these are a most terrible pollution. I have seen in my own eyes, many industires in Ahmedabad drain the wastages in borewells . If you look at sabarmati river, there will be some colorful sediments and foams. They come from borewells. There is a reason why Coimbatore textile industry depends on Ahmedabad dyeing and design industry. Some 8 yrs ago in TN, nearly 80% of dyeing units are sealed by the enviromental ministry for causing pollution. TN's industrial sector was purposefully made to decline for environmental causes. Gujarat's pro-industrial policy destroy the state than they develop it.

your concentrating too much of textiles deto. and you need to get out of this trader mentality. Big business is where the future for india is. My father works for royal dutch shell. He regularly visits Surat or a place called Hazira which is a large industrial complex. Its clean and without issues. Large global companies like Shell are heavily investing in Guj. I mean forget industry. I read the yield of cotton in Gujarat has tripled since namo has come to power. Or maybe the Gujarat model is all about increasing the yield of cash crops.

well, as I my family business spins around spinning and apparel mills, I may be too inclined to textiles. So I just have to say what I know very well. :giggle: Yes, shell gonna invest a lot in Gujarat and Andra, with Reliance as joint ventures. My question is why not ONGC or Gujarat State Petroleum Corp? Big business is NOT the future of India, but considering our population we need home grown mid level business with proper quality control. That's an area India is pathetic. Although, not just cotton, overall agriculture has taken a dip in the last 3 yrs due to monsoon failure. It's true that NaMo's reign saw a growth in cotton yield, but it has successfully turned the farmers from being a middle class to poor. It's not the case in few other states like Maharastra, Andra or TN. I m happy to be proved wrong.

cant speak for andhra or tn, but farmers in maha are committing mass suicides more than ever due to drought and a massive irrigation scam. As you say the monsoon has dipped and Maha government has just not got the farmers the relief on time. Plus i dont believe that guj farmers have become poorer. We own a historic small farm near Dhule which is on the border in Guj (its like 5-6 acres) . Farmers in across the border in Guj are richer than those in Desh region of Maha. One place where Guj lags behind is technical education. Everybody wants to do " buzinesh". On the issue of quality control, its a phase. China is now way richer than India and some of their industrial cities are in a much worse shape than India. England in the industrial resolution, places like manchester was basically one black cloud of soot. Its the pain barrier most places in the world have to go through. Consider it a baptism of fire.

He was attacked by rods and sticks which has left his nose bone damaged. Nandan is part of the Play4Change campaign and his team plays patriotic songs on streets in support of AAP. Nandan leaving his job, has been campaigning for AAP since Delhi Elections. We wish speedy recovery to Nandan. Such attacks only show the sheer frustration of BJP supporters.
