Pankaj has been doing it consistently season after season. Once Dhawan does it, people will rightfully question why no chances are being given to him like Vinay and Mithun.

Pankaj Singh has delivered slightly better domestic performances than VK, seems to be able extract more pace/bounce, and has deserved as many or more opportunities than guys like VK/Mithun. It is unfortunate that the selectors have ignored him for so many years. That said, he ain't no Courtney Walsh.

Just so you know last years (2012) top wicket taker was ishwar pandey among the top 5 fast bowlers were umesh and mohit both got opportunity to play for India. Pankaj took 29 wickets which was 7 less than what Rishi dhawan took and let me not even get into rishis batting avg. also rishi is 6'2" (dont know why height seems to matter in this thread given lambu hasnt done much with it) and known to extract bounce. See i have nothing against Pankaj all i am trying to point is there are others with similar numbers and consistency who maybe feeling the same way.

Yes the India callup came too early for him and at poor time, he should have got a game in Zim atleast.

We are not asking them to give an Indian cap to a rookie or a non-performer but an experienced domestic domestic performer who has ingredients to be successful and has consistently performed for last 4-5 domestic seasons.

If Pankaj just stood out like umesh or aaron then he would have made it to the team earlier; that he doesnt, no matter how consistent, to me shows at best he could be like a venky. Hold his end have a few good games here or there but dont expect him to be turn around things for us.

They have only won....hmmm... 40 titles! TN, on the other hand is a wonderful team that has won an eye-popping grand total of 2 titles! Stupid argument. I already said Zaheer is too old to be in the team and is no longer the good bowler that he once was. Problem is the perception, when he was first selected, he was slow at 125K, so people formed an opinion thaa he is slow, but in last 2 years, he has gained a lot of pace with the help of bowling coach Mayrick Pringle . Since then, his pace has changed, but opinions have not. Even the likes of Ryan Harris has become a genuine fast bowler from a trundler he once was. His case is also pretty much like that. They only came into prominence because of their pace, but Pankaj was when Rajasthan won Ranji trophy in 2010 with 43 wickets.

He did get an opportunity 3 years ago, but his consistency over the last 2 - 3 years has been phenomenal. It has also come at a time when we are struggling to find good fast bowlers.

What baffles me most is that Ishant Sharma now bowls at about the same pace (130 - 135 kph) and yet he gets being picked for supposedly his pace. He only bowled 140+ in his first few Tests. After that, Ishant has always been a 130-135 bowler. Pankaj has a similar height and can get awkward bounce even on Indian pitches. I'm not saying that he is going to be a world beater pace bowler, but he surely deserves his chance. If Ishant can get 50+ Tests, can't we give Pankaj at least 5 Tests?
