The worrying thing about Dinda's statement is the zonal quota system it brings to the fore. He thinks he is the best pacer in Eastern India among the fresh pacers choosen and hence, deserves a place. So, basically , the best players from the country are not choosen. Unless you are a great, you can get a chance only if the zonal, or personal quota spot is empty. Very worrying.

His inclusion in the side wasn't all due to his form or skills but the ranting from Omar Abdullah. My point wasn't whether he deserved a spot or not. If the selectors opted for him based on his form , they wouldn't have dropped him in the next series. It was a pointless and political selection for the Zimbabwe tour. I wouldn't mind having him in the team but his selection in the Zimbabwe tour was more like a quota spot to please the public.

If someone like Rassool could make it from J&K, Dinda shouldn't really use his state politics as an excuse. However, I feel that he was given chances in the wrong format of the game - a problem that constantly bugs our selectors.
