Can Johnson Inspire likes of Umar Gul and Ishant Sharma?

Johnson was a decent bowler who lost it completely 4/5 years ago and most of us thought his career was over. But he proved that you can come back stronger with desire and hard work. Now this should be an example for some other underachieving fast bowlers mainly Ishant Sharma and Umar Gul. These guys have all the tools to be very good test bowlers but for some reason are not performing. I remember Gul was a yard quicker when he came back from a back injury in 06/07. With Aamir and Asif banned automatic selection has stopped his progress. He is 29 and should be inspired by Johnson re emergence. Sharma impressed us all Aus all those years ago with his pace and bounce and was this great Indian hope. In last few years he has declined big time and is lucky to be in the team. He is still young and should look at Johnson to see where desire and work can take you. Sharamnaak signature.

Both of them should thrown out of the team and asked to work in domestic setup or county. Selection should be based on performance in the respective setup. If you are not hungry you shouldn't be in the team.

Both of them are given a free pass to selection. I think it will tough for Gul now considering the pacers you have he is not an automatic selection. Can you elaborate on team culture ? Do you mean taking spot for granted ?

More than Ishant, I would like to see Umesh get a chance in the side even in ODIs. Johnson was wayward for a major part of his career but he had pace. If Australia with the pace bowling resources they have, could play him in the side despite having a 30+ average, why cant India play Umesh even if he is a bit wayward. Its always important to take wickets even if you give a few boundaries away and Umesh is a wicket taker. Line and length will improve as he plays more and gets more confidence. I think its criminal to give a thousand chances to V Kumar, Unadkat over Umesh because those bowlers go for runs anyway AND dont pick wickets. Just goes to show, people in charge dont know anything about bowling. Umesh, Shami, Varun Aaron should be our lineup in ODIs. Instead of Aaron , someone like Ishwar, Pankaj or Kulkarni could be picked in tests. The jury is still out on B Kumar. He looked a good bowler in the few ODIs be played but he doesnt have the physique to remain consistent for longer spells and doesnt look a threat after the new ball stops swinging and doesnt have pace either.

There is no hope with Retard Sharma. He is a failed cricketer who has progressively got worse the longer he has played, it is 50 tests and counting so far. The only reason he plays is because he is a special member of Dhoni's Long Rope Club and provides exclusive services - on any level of merit or playing ability he would have been out of the side several years ago. Until Dhoni leaves we are stuck with this man-child.
