hhunaeh Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/mumbai/mumbai-airport-s-new-world-class-terminal/article1-1171631.aspx The pics here make it look really pretty, but all the designs and decorations on the walls and pillars will make it difficult to maintain .There should be measurements other than looks to rate an airport. Hopefully it's top notch in those too.
nballa Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 beautiful airport. its missing a few key design elements but the indian public will take care of that.
gattaca Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 finally. The old airport was small and badly maintained.
JaiRamesh2 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 :two_thumbs_up:the best airport in India Beautiful inside and outside.
Rotating Potato Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 :two_thumbs_up:the best airport in India Beautiful inside and outside. Have you been to igi ?
Crookbond Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Have you been to igi ? Delhi T3 is good but Mumbai T2 trumps it.
Rotating Potato Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Delhi T3 is good but Mumbai T2 trumps it. Really? Coz from the looks of it T3 looks a thousand times better than this pic above.
Crookbond Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Really? Coz from the looks of it T3 looks a thousand times better than this pic above. I have been to both; just don't go by the pictures.
Jersey #10 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I could careless for the design as long as it's laid out fine. The older airport was cramped for space. Hopefully this is more spacious
Laaloo Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I could careless for the design as long as it's laid out fine. The older airport was cramped for space. Hopefully this is more spacious lots of space and if you see the outside from two blocks away at night, it looks like heaven
Rotating Potato Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 lots of space and if you see the outside from two blocks away at night, it looks like heaven Hope they don't actually send u to heaven there. That's a strict no-no for an airport.
Straight Drive Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Mumbai airport is good, so are the ones at New Mangalore, Calcutta and Chennai. Mumbai is the msot crowded airport in India and hence it did need another terminal. Good to see that. The worst are at Gujarat (Jamnagar, Rajkot) . They seem to be worse than even some railway stations.
G_B_ Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 The problem for mumbai airport is the way the runways are laid out. ie criss cross and they are only 2. The good news for delhi has that it can have 4-5 runways on the 4500 acre land and develop into a major hub. Mumbai will need navi mumbai pretty soon. Otherwise this airport is going to be over flowing as well
Detonator Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Airports are ok, but we need good quality domestic aircrafts. Jet airways is only average imo. Indigo and Air India are absolute scary.
G_B_ Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Airports are ok, but we need good quality domestic aircrafts. Jet airways is only average imo. Indigo and Air India are absolute scary. the industry needs consolidation for that to happen.....Way too many carriers which means costs are the big issue. Perfectly competitive markets as a economic concept comes to mind. (if you ignore Indian airlines making a loss)
Straight Drive Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Airports are ok, but we need good quality domestic aircrafts. Jet airways is only average imo. Indigo and Air India are absolute scary. The refreshments that Jet serve are too bad. It's better to have something before boarding or after reaching the destination.:haha: I have only traveled by Jet and Air India, and Jet definitely is better overall. The good thing about Jet Airways is the "Priority Baggage" facility wherein if you are a frequent traveler your luggage is first on the belt.

coffee_rules Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I spent about 12 hrs in the new T2. Agreed, it is still new and all the stalls were still coming up, I couldn't find a bookstore in entire terminal. There are boutiques and duty-free daaru shops, but no bookstore. I hope they have one now. Otherwise pretty neat and I hope it stays neat in the coming years. Also, they sell International SIM cards for people going to US/Gulf, but a tourist/American can't get a sim card for usage in India. It is a big security issue, but they have to find a way to clear people who are legitimate. I had to borrow SIM card from relatives there.
