Nobody is saying we don't need pace, of course it will be great to have a 90mph+ bowler in the side to tear into a batting line up. I am no fan of Isanth or the myriad of trundlers born in India, fortunately I don't get a woody simply because an Indian bowler is able to touch the fringes of 90mph. Pace without direction is simply useless, thats what I am saying. Tait, Sami or even Johnson till Nov'13 are all examples of pointless pace.

He was set an offside field and kept bowling at the legs repeatedly.....kept getting hit...kept bowling it there. Not one but both ODIs. Under what precedence are you saying lets play him in the Tests?!! Ishant is a very mediocre bowler, so if he bowled better than Yadav in the ODIs, then what does that say about him?!! SA are not going to refrain from hitting Yadav all round the park just because his record is better. In the first test both Ishanth and Zaheer were bowling well for most parts, but come the second game they were both appalling, especially Zak. But they got picked for the second test on the basis of how well the bowled in the first. Yadav will get his chance again but if he doesn't put it to good use then he can blame no one else but himself!! Did u watch yadav? He bowled well in the initial over creating 2 edges to be taken off and then came in the power play where he bowled well ,then he was suddenly taken off and brought in the last over where he got hammered. Yadav has been indias best test bowler when he had played .He deserves hell lot more chances than ishant dharma who has been struggling for years now or zak who is spent force.

Ah that great sight of a fast bowler charging in and bowling quick, something which is alien to us. :(( This kid emulated his action on Bond and if he became half successful as Bond it will serve NZ cricket immensely. Hope they handle him well and do not overplay him, like they did for Bond. As far as India is concerned, we don't back our fast bowlers. Umesh, Aaron should be given enough chances before discarding them. They might be little expensive, wayward sometimes but with experience they will learn and they day they learn they will be world beaters. Remember Umesh spell against Aussies in CT warm up match? A fast bowler have the ability to run through a side which trundlers like Ishant don't have...when will we understand? :headshake: We preserve Umesh for tests by not playing him in ODI's and when test comes, even in the pitches of South Africa we play Ishant :clap: Coming back to Milne, India will have a tough challenge facing him in the upcoming series. I would really like our young batters to get as much practice against genuine pace, outside the subcontinent , as possible. Those who succeed, like Kohli, Pujara, Rahane and Vijay against Steyn and co. , can be backed whole heartedly. It will make the young batsmen more complete players.
