Kohli continues piling on freakish numbers

With 18 centuries, Kohli equals Mark Waugh and moves past Gambhir to the 9th position in most centuries in ODI cricket. This is unreal, it still feels as if he is just starting his career-- he wasn't even on the last tour to NZ and in that time has scored 18 centuries!! He is now within striking distance of Lara (19 tons) and Ganguly (22 tons), long considered to be the greats of the ODI game. I think Kohli is on track to easily become #2 (ponting has 30). Can he beat tendulkar's 49?

Too early to predict that. But, Lets hope he continues to bat well for many years. If he continues with consistency, it is best for India.

now, i'm not saying Virat=Sachin or whatever, but I just thought this would be interesting. Stats of Tendulkar when he was 25/26 (Jan 1st 2000): 229 Matches, 8517 Runs, Ave: 42.85, highest 186*, 24 hundreds and 44 fifties Kohli: 126 matches, 5277 runs, ave 52.24, highest 183, 18 hundreds and 28 fifties Tendulkar had a slow start to his career (stats are still insane though). but Kohli's average is unreal too, especially because he bats in the top order (so it isn't inflated by artificial not outs) and because he has maintained it for a long time now.

I was saddened by Tendulkar's retirement like many of you. I wondered if we will ever get to see another remarkable player like him ever again. Well Kholi is no Tendulkar, but he is as close as another Tendulkar we will get and not to mention from the same soil

I remember when Sachin got 10 18 ODI 100's,it was a bit thing. Coz he had surpassed Desmond Hayne's record of 17 ODI 100's which was the highest then. But, Virat is churning out 100's like anything.

Wasn't there a big competition BTW Sachin and Answer as to who will break Haybe's record first ? Surprised to see Answer never reached even 20 hundreds in his career was very close WITH Sachin at one stage IIRC

I seriously believe it is a case of when he beats it.
