G_B_ Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Watching Maharashtra v Karnataka. Typical Indian pitch. Some bounce but not much venom in it for the seamers outside the first hour of play. More of a role for the spinners. On the flattish side and will probably deteriorate. As much as i would like to chop and change the bowling (which has been the weaker indian suit) I cant think of anybody in domestic cricket in India who can change the outcome. We need to give our seamers something. They dont know how to bowl on pitches where they have some bounce.
kubrickian Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Nothing will happen. This is the same story I've been listening after every overseas loss since I was a kid. There is talk of preparing bouncy pitches or green tracks after losing in Eng/SA/Aus but after a while, everything will be forgotten. Fact of the matter is if we prepare green tracks for tests, BCCI is scared we will get pummeled at home too. So we prepare these dust bowls and have 2 or 3 spinners roll their arms over and try to defeat visiting teams. This is the story of cricket in SC.
kubrickian Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Its not enough just to prepare seamer friendly wickets in FC. Seamer friendly wickets should be prepared for tests too because once a seamer gets picked for an international side, he still needs to learn a lot and improve a lot and that can only happen by bowling to test class batsmen. But in tests in India, spinners are the main strike bowlers who pick 80 % of wickets and Indian seamers exist just to take the shine off the ball and to stop the runs. Where are they going to get the confidence or the ability to take majority of wickets when they go overseas ? Playing in Australia or SA once every 3 or 4 years won't make any difference.

cowboysfan Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 forget about the seamers.where are the spinners?? even good teams have trouble finding a capable spinner.Bhajji is still playing for punjab and karnataka are playing with 3 seamers in the final on the pitch which is turning because they dont trust their spinners to take wickets.to me the lack of good spinners is more worrying because we depend on them so much to win home tests.

They cant seem to get that in Nz, Aus and Sa A tours could help but its still not equivalent to bowling to test class batsmen and playing under the pressure of performing in a test match. We will produce good seamers who can take 20 wickets abroad when we change the way we play cricket at home. Simple as that. Otherwise, it will take many years for these bowlers to learn the ropes by playing series after series abroad and getting whitewashed. At least Zaheer, Srinath had the opportunity to play county cricket and learned a lot, the current lot don't even have that luxury.

A lot of seamer-friendly tracks and matches ending in 4 days or less. The Hyderabad track is among the few non-responsive ones, which is why it makes even less sense for the venue to host the final.

I would love to see each state side get a sponsor and a name attached to the state side like IPL and build on fan base, incentives for players and more audience participation with effort made to back the state sides thru fans and competitiveness, allow couple of foreign players. ALSO BCCI NEEDS TO ADD TO MORE RANJI TEAMS, one is their own choice of very talented players who are out of loop players from Bihar and other ignored players and state sides, also players who cant get into state teams and are good like Suyal, second team owned by the chief sponsor and this will give associations and corporate bodies more incentives to win , plan, be cut throat like IPL, A COMPREHENSIVE PLAYER PERFORMANCE INDEX BE DEVELOPED WHERE A PLAYER GETS POINTS PER THEIR BOWLING AND BATTING EFFORT, THE MATCH , WICKET CONDITIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PERFORMANCE AND AGAINST WHICH TEAM, ALSO NOT THE TALLY OF HOW MANY WICKETS OR RUNS SCORED BUT THE NUMBER OF GAMES PLAYED AND THE PLAYERS WHO PERFORMED IN THOSE GAMES SO IF FAST BOWLERS ARE PRESERVED AND SKIP COUPLE OF GAMES SELECTORS DONT IGNORE THEM AND UNDERSTAND THEY WERE RESTED. At least 2 ranji matches I saw recently were very helpful bowling conditions but unfortunately it makes mediocre bowlers look like world beaters and ftbs look like tailenders

What a joke it will degrade the quality of players, as it is there are already a lot of hacks playing in India's domestic teams making 300+ and averaging over 60 no wonder India is the worst team when it come to touring overseas.

He wanted to whip it on the leg side but top edged it Vinay Kumar to Jadhav, OUT, another wicket off a full toss - this time it's Jadhav! It was way outside the off stump, Jadhav went hard at it, trying to capitalise on the juicy full toss, but gave it straight into the hands of Uthappa

Others are not even taking wickets, he had a vague way to getting wickets. He is as effective as Yadav is ODIs. Aaron and Shami with all their pace did ghanta in NZ - 4-0 :hehe:
