HE was Vaas esque bowler who bowled line and length all day. Not abnormal to bowl 49 overs. What do you trying to prove here? If you consider someone like Shewag's bigscores, they would have come on even flatter tracks, especially when the opposition has fast bowler dominated attack.

Roberts, Holding, Marshall, Croft, Garner, Patterson, Walsh, Ambrose, Bishop, Hadlee, Lillee and Thomson. I counted out Botham and Kapil since they are not fast, but fast medium.

Nothing to prove. Just to show even Miandad scored centuries on flat tracks. Mcgrath, Lee, Shoaib, Bond, Steyn, Pollock, Murali, Warne. He did score few 100s where other batsmen could hardly add 100-200 runs. Both of them scored mostly on flat tracks. You may find more 100s for Sehwag with lower team scores. I guess those pitches were flatter if whole team easily scored 400 all the time against pacers in 80s?

How does Sanga fare on these two counts ? How many runs in tests outside the subcontinent, how many centuries ? Has he scored runs against top bowlers of his era, in their own countries ? Like Gavaskar, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Kohli and Rahane have ?

How many centuries out of his 37 ?

Some one has to do a rest of the players average vs subject player's average for a proper comparison to see who scored under tougher conditions.

express bowling Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Averages become important when the total number is somewhat comparable. When someone has not scored much overseas .... averages sort of lose their value.

Sanga has around 4000 runs in around 35 matches at 75 average at Colombo alone. If you play a third of all your matches on two or three grounds, you become a super batsman on these grounds.

So you have to look into each match and pitch condition into account. Like the Hobart pitch where Sangakkara scored 192. It's not a typical Australian pitch and resembles a subcontinent pitch a lot (favors batsman and spinners). http://www.espncricinfo.com/ausvsl/content/story/320283.html So his 192, though a very good innings under pressure, is not as great-innings-outside-his-comfort-zone as many would think.
