Yantra Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 For a long time I have been thinking these two bowlers are similar in nature, -Similar Speed, may be Umesh touch slower -Similar Runup -Use lot of Shoulder at the time of Delivery -Can be erratic -Both has good amount of wicket taking deliveries -Both give 100% whenever given ball in the hand -both have similar records when playing on bouncy pitches as well as Sub continent Pitches Only difference is one is highly successful at the moment and other is warming the bench, why? -Only reason I can think is we have poor captain Dhoni who has destroyed Umesh's confidence does not know how to handle real Gem like Umesh, he is always happy with Black stone like Ishant. What you guys say, if this a fair comparison and Does Umesh has potential to be as successful as Johnson?

Comparing like for like Umesh's FC average per wicket way below Vinay Kumar for starters, bowing in same conditions and to the same set of opponents. And this guy cannot even stay fit for any extended amount of time. And it is Dhoni's fault.

Morkel can eat Umesh alive in terms bowling at 145 k effortlessly. But he cannot pose a threat to batsman like Johson. Wahab Riaz is another guy who consistently hits 145 to 150.. but hardly causes any batsman to quack in their boots. Johnson is fast, accurate bowls with real shoulder effort.
