gaurav92
pujara's batting hasnt been that great in this series. some technical flaws being exposed. raising your bat high to a well directed short ball is criminal. he will seriously need to work on these things if he wants to continue at #3. otherwise' date=' rahane should get that spot.[/quote'] I don't think thats a big issue. Every players have a bad patch, and Pujara is just going through that for 2 tests, I am sure he will correct the little flaws and soon come out of it. He is a very good player, too good to be not performing for these many games :nice: And he looks like a matured captain. Kohli may get sentimental as we see him in the IPL for RCB, gets a little carried away. I may be wrong and Kohli may well be a great captain, but I would prefer Pujara over Kohli for now. cricraja
After this draw, though it is very disappointing that we did not win, MSD should lead the side in the England, with Virat as his deputy. This draw shows despite the demoralizing innings from McCullum, India still did not lose heart, when they had to bat 70 overs to get a draw. And credit to MSD, that he still has the players who will fight for him. Virat 4th innings century is as good as they come. Link to comment

Muloghonto
Dhoni should have some pride and retire from test cricket. Hopefully Kohli is appointed the test captain for england series Thats raising the stakes on Kohli some more. He isn't even averaging 50 as a test batsman yet and now you want him to be captain too. Look, there is no captaincy option in Indian team at the moment outside of Dhoni. Pujara & Kohli are too valuable to risk being broken by captaincy. After these two, there are no other batsmen or bowler in the team thats been around for long enough and is going to be around for long enough who has captaincy experience. Dhoni knows it will take something extraordinary for his captaincy in any format to be jeopardized. That is because never had the Indian team gone with such a uni-polar candidacy to captaincy. We've always had one other senior in the team, who'd be around for a while before the new crop develops, who could be the other option. Link to comment

GautiMaan
When did avging above 50 become a criterion for choosing a captain? Maybe thats why Dhoni is averaging under 40 in tests? Take away the burden of captaincy and Dhoni will start averaging 50+ in tests, that should solve some our problems Link to comment

If you exclude Kohli's debut test series in WI where he looked out of depth in test cricket, he averages 56 with the bat since then even after playing 8 tests in Aus, SA, and NZ where he averaged 68 combined in those 8 tests overseas.
