Debutant Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 foreign players have troubles playing in subcontinent they improve themselves when they play here India is still winning in India. So the players learning or adopting to subcontinent is not helping them I guess while our players are not learning anything new So without IPL they would have learnt a lot and would have become world class is what you wanna say ?? if ipl is played in england then wasim tips on swing bowling might work der but in india where most of the pitches are flat our player might not learn anything new in bowling Wasim is probably the best person to give tips how to ball in subcontinent pitches. Anyways, IPL is not the cause of flat tracks in India
Pagalpanti Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 IPL is everyones punching bag. If anything it has made India a beast in ODI cricket. People who watched India play in 90s and early 2000 know how India would manage to lose games from any position.
helperononline Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Yet Australia who have majority of players who play in IPL lost 4-0 in India and never looked comfortable against spin. By your logic' date=' they should have scored tons of runs in India because of playing in IPL.[/quote'] australia lost more due to their bowling than batting we made rank turners how many players did they have in ipl ? watson warner steven smith GJ Maxwell Henriques steve smith looked comfortable against spin while we were lucky watson got affected by other controversies while maxwell and henriques are new so could not make that much impact warner failed in turners but he is still dangerous against our spinner in flat tracks
helperononline Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 i am actually surprised to see love for IPL we had lost three player due to fixing complete disgrace to our country`s image srini supports dhoni because he is CSK `s captain while dhoni kept playing raina because of csk connections clear case of conflict of interest we lost varun for one year due to injury where team like SA preserve the fast bowlers we make them play non stop tamasha cricket and ruin them not to forget we select players based on Ipl performance god save India and its fans
alexander Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 @ OP, Your bowling sucked well before the IPL. It has bitten since day 1. :finger:

You think IPL is somehow evil and its tamasha. There are people who like IPL. People want to watch IPL. Some people like you can keep on shouting and crying. Nobody is gonna listen and we will be enjoying IPL every year. Keep crying
NareshK Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 australia lost more due to their bowling than batting we made rank turners how many players did they have in ipl ? watson warner steven smith GJ Maxwell Henriques steve smith looked comfortable against spin while we were lucky watson got affected by other controversies while maxwell and henriques are new so could not make that much impact warner failed in turners but he is still dangerous against our spinner in flat tracks Just excuses. You said playing in IPL has made foreign batsmen comfortable against our spinners which is not true if you go by their performance in tests. Even if its true, it goes both ways. Playing against the best fast bowlers in the world in intense atmosphere of playing in front of 50,000 spectators under pressure gives much needed experience to our cricketers as well. Playing in that environment over and again in IPL gives some of the players the confidence and experience to do the same thing in crunch situations in international cricket like chasing 270 in WC final and chasing 300+ many times. About the ODI performances in NZ and SA, those are entirely different conditions which have extra pace and bounce, which some of our batsmen and bowlers have to get used to. They have been playing their whole life in slow pace, low bounce conditions. Making the adjustments and adapting to different conditions is not that easy.
Sean Bradley Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Tricks and Magic, Yeah Rite !! :cantstop:
NareshK Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 i am actually surprised to see love for IPL we had lost three player due to fixing complete disgrace to our country`s image srini supports dhoni because he is CSK `s captain while dhoni kept playing raina because of csk connections clear case of conflict of interest we lost varun for one year due to injury where team like SA preserve the fast bowlers we make them play non stop tamasha cricket and ruin them not to forget we select players based on Ipl performance god save India and its fans Why do you think not playing IPL mean Indian players would get rest ? BCCI would instead schedule another ODI series with Sri Lanka or West Indies where any of our players could get as easily injured. About the players who were found fixing, that's the mistake of the players themselves and not the league. I would rather they are found guilty and removed from cricket altogether than do the same thing when playing for India. Also, every country has a T20 tournament just like IPL, many of which are lot longer. Just because IPL involves lots of money and because its popular, it attracts lots of criticism. Its not about defending IPL or whatever. Your points dont make any sense and are just empty rhetoric. You are choosing to blame everything on IPL and that's not a solution.
The Outsider Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Cowlashers, trundlers, darters, and backstops are all Indian cricket is going to get from IPL.
NareshK Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Cowlashers' date=' trundlers, darters, and backstops are all Indian cricket is going to get from IPL.[/quote'] Never said performances in IPL should be the basis of selection for national team. It gives some of the players some needed exposure to international quality bowlers and the atmosphere and pressure of top level cricket. It also gives chances to many Indian players to earn money, fame and a career as not everyone can make it to the Indian team. Its entertaining to a big section of the audience as well.
vvvslaxman Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Weaknesses of batsmen are shared in IPL. I remember Albie saying that he won't share any South African strategy with CSK. Also there were concerns when Mendis joined IPL. They wanted to protect him. Only these so called mystery bowlers will get affected. But they will eventually get found out anyway. But i wonder if "IPL friendship" continue in internationals as well. Steyn recommending Ishant as 140 k bowler :cantstop: Alan Donald recommending Dinda.

The Outsider Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Never said performances in IPL should be the basis of selection for national team. Your and my opinion hardly matters. The fact is selectors use IPL for selecting the national team. Saurabh Tiwari and Stuart Binny are India capped players, thanks to IPL. Regarding the topic of bowling, I don't think fast bowlers are effected by IPL in a technical sense. Yeah, it gives complacency to the likes of RP Singh, but at the end of the day the individual has to take blame for that. However, spinners are literally being killed by IPL and being converted into darters.
GolGappe Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Agreed with OP. I'd add IPL is also the root cause of lots of other problems in our cricket. If Dhoni wasn't associated with CSK, he wouldn't be skipper of India by now. Fletcher wouldn't be able to dodge all the heat if Indian players were only involved with International cricket. The falling standards of bowling. The BCCI's refusal to let active players play in county cricket or other leagues.

However, spinners are literally being killed by IPL and being converted into darters. Saurabh Tiwary is just an exception. There are many other players who have done well in IPL who never got selected for national team. Stuart Binny got picked because of connections and also because he has been doing decently as an all rounder for Karnataka in Ranji.
vvvslaxman Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 There are many other players who have done well in IPL too but they never got selected for national team. Stuart Binny got picked because of connections and also because he has been doing decently as an all rounder for Karnataka in Ranji. Now that even uncapped players go for auction we can be relieved. Otherwise guys like Anirudda will be getting a match. They might even arrange a series with Zimbabwe just to include him.
putrevus Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 IPL has got nothing to do with Indian bowling woes. they simply are not good enough period. Guys who are not motivated enough like RP singh who after one season became fat slob,he would have doine the same without ipl too.
JourneyMan Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Bowling in tests and bowling in t20's are two very different things. Don't think IPL comes into the picture here. We have a genuine bowling problem, our pacers simply aren't world class. Zaheer was, but he's way past it now.
King Tendulkar Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Its not Ipl but what we make of Ipl that matters. Thats the problem we are picking odi and test players form ipl. Did he really say that? jeez someone needs to stone his house as well
