In a few months, the Duncan Fletcher era of Indian cricket will have gone three years with barely anything to show for in terms of Test wins away from home. Joe Dawes has been the bowling coach for exactly two years, and in that time, the bowlers have allowed Alastair Cook to score 294, Michael Clarke to get a 329 and Brendon McCullum to follow up a double ton with 302 in Wellington. And through all this, the man firmly ensconced in the job of India captain has been Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who even his most ardent admirers admit is an overly 'defensive' skipper. The 0-1 series defeat to low-ranked New Zealand just follows the path of despondency Indian cricket has been on ever since the team was whitewashed 0-4 in England in 2011. Questions have been raised, inquests have been promised - but the reality remains one away victory in 15 Tests under Fletcher. Former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath said: "I don't understand the use of having Fletcher if he is not delivering. Nobody is raising questions about the coach and support staff." While comparisons to football are akin to the old 'apples and oranges' adage, the question that must be asked is whether any manager in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A or Bundesliga would be allowed such a long rope? Or even in the Indian Premier League? In an era of professionalism across the board, Fletcher, Dawes and Dhoni seem to be inexplicably unimpeachable. With the World Cup less than a year away, there seems to be no way the BCCI is going to sack D3 - Duncan, Dawes and Dhoni. Dhoni has been under the pump ever since he led India to 0-8 more than Fletcher. Fletcher cannot hide behind Dhoni's ass to be India's coach forever. Infact Fletcher suffered the least. Even when he was appointed English supporters made fun of BCCI for selection this joker.

Also Gary Kirsten and the coaching staff got lot of credit for our World Cup Victory.
Deleted_User_1 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I can understand to some extent this love fest for Dhobi but wtf has Duncan flecther done since he has taken over it has been one crappy result after another it is 0-12 since his taking over.What more evidence you need that this guy stinks. If players and captain swear on how hard Duncan works and how he is making them better and that translates into "he is a moron who lets us do what we want and does not bother us with anything." He has sucked Dhobi's nunni and apparently it is potent! Look, he is still around. :cantstop:

Tendulkar_Bhai Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 The BCCI is not even reactive as they would have got rid of Duncan and Dhoni after the Australia series, its impossible to measure the effect of a good bowling coach but if it is not working you have to try different things and the static nature of BCCI is baffling. I think it comes down to the mentality in india to be loyal and not wanting to change what you love even if players are not producing, it is ok in bollywood but doesn't work in sport!

But I don’t see Joe Dawes (India’s bowling coach) doing that.†This is the question many of us had ,even shane bond bowling coach was seen talking to bowlers but our BOZO bowling coach is never seen doing anything. Because apparently they plan for each batsman, which in this day and age is easy given the technology. But Fletcher Sahab and Dawes babu believe in bowling 125kph thunderbolts hitting top of off stump. :haha:

Midfielder Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Of all the modern captains Bedi had more balls then some of these pretenders. Delhi cricket was nothing till Bedi arrived at the scene. You don't have to agree with him but he is a straight shooter.
