Have you watched Tests with rest day in middle? Which year was it cancelled? Does rest day encourage more enforcement of follow-on becos bowlers can get rest? Also, team that lost more sessions on first three days can turn it around after rest day, potentially making match more interesting?

Yeah, I still remember rest day between tests, long time back.

I think they were common before the 90s. 1987 Bangalore Test which Pakistan won to clinch first test series win on Indian soil had rest day.

I think last test with rest day was in 2001 so that is not too long ago after a gap of 7 years in 1994. I still faintly remember Inda-England test series in 1993 having rest days, not sure though.

I agree. ..I did say rest days in tests before the 90's..dunno which year they cancelled it .. I think in the mid-1990s when Dalmia took over as ICC President , they went on to standardize cricket as a product .. remember the definition of ODI's also varied with 60 overs or 55 overs matches in England ..

Have you watched Tests with rest day in middle? Oh yea, I vaguely remember test matches with rest days. Our desi boys wouldn't do much anyway and then take a day off for rest. Thank god they canceled it.

Rest days would come in handy in matches in which a day was lost due to rains. Then there were no rest days. This also impacted follow-on. In matches without rest day the follow-on came down from 200 to 150.

Yes 1992 England v Pakistan my first test series. Was a bit strange but a good idea theoretically...help people recuperate perhaps.

If i am not wrong, the India vs WI tour in 1994 had a rest day. Correct me if i am wrong.
