Ganguly taught us how to win outside India: Harbhajan Singh

Of course you are! You are rating reaching the finals of a tri-series with the 3rd team as Zimbabwe over a CB series win against Australia that is way past trolling the point. I credit Ganguly for "change in mindset" but I don't think it was Ganguly's idea. In the end, silverware matters. The WT20 2007 and CT 2012 was virtually won with nobodies. Yes, the WC 2011 team was great but the foundations for ODI wins at home should go to Dravid on that front, I wouldn't call Dhoni a great captain but there has to be something about him and silverware. The biggest legacy of Ganguly is as a Test match captain, particularly overseas.
Glad to see you and me are on the same page when it comes to agreeing ganguly changed the mindset or attitude. Captaincy is an intangible quality. ....can't be measured in trophies. Fleming was greater captain than Ponting. So since been are on the same page about the mindset part which directly leads to my point of ganguly being the architect along with other big names and dhoni being the beneficiary we are all good

Dude.. that underlines the fact Ganguly was much poorer nothing more. Dhoni is poor in lot of areas. Ganguly was poorer. That is why i laugh when you guys put him on pedestal.
So when trophies are measured why not the kind of losses. ...ganguly never got whitewashed even when he played much superior teams with relatively weaker sides. Dhoni has lost games singlehandedly due to captaincy to add he was a passenger in the side as a player in most if not all of his succeses

I wasn't measuring in terms of trophies - I said trophies matter. I believe that the Test team was the vision of Ganguly while the ODI was Dravid.

That is an overstatement. His Test captaincy is poor.. His time is up. But Ganguly's time was up not juas a captain but as a player within 1 or 2 years after he took over captaincy. He was not even fit to be part of XI let alone captain the side. India lost every final. Could not win even one day sereis at home. As a fan you want series wins, trophies not "average NZ like performances'. Dravid should have taken over long back.

Ganguly Ganguly Ganguly :wall: :wall: :wall: Why is the Indian media and fans so obsessed about Ganguly? Either it will be something he has said, or something about him :wall: Every 10th thread here seems to be about him.
what do you expect when a domestic ckt tourney is going on in Calcutta & there is very less international cricket happening?

Odis fitness is key which dravid and dhoni mostly are credit for.But really the after fall of australia the cricket teams are similar in ability.

You will see improvements now that the dead wood is out
AGree you mean the brain dead skipper who becomes wooden when the ball starts swinging :phehehe:

Didn't he and bhajji sit out of Nagpur test as the pitch was too green for their liking ?
Credit where due that was smart....Dhoni has been playing on not even half a Green track and time and time again due to which opposition gets a free wicket ...better sit out then be a liability :two_thumbs_up:

Dhoni did decent against NZ. But he can never play a McCullum like innings. I think that's the difference
