If my memory is right we won a test series in pakistan in 2004/05 ,won odi series in the same tour,Drew in india lost odis series,then we lost test series in pak but won the odi series,then we won the test and odi series in india,then we again we won the test series and odi series in india ,lost the last odi series in india + world t20 + icc tourneys .There is no comparison.

By principle of Lahori Logic, WC is the pinnacle of tournaments and hence in ODIs only WC matters. Pakistan has never won against India in WC's. Hence, India has been the supremo team vs Pakistan. :proud:

If you asked most cricket fans, what is a greater and more difficult achievement, winning a test series in Australia or a World Cup, they will always pick the test series in Aus. Pakistan and SL have won world cups, joke world cups, but neither I'm sure have won a test series in Aus. The point is, in most sports winning Slams/World Cups etc is the pinnacle, in cricket it isn't. The pinnacle is winning a test series in Aus.

Sorry, Why is Australia the Pinnacle? and not Kenya? I can say winning a test in India is Pinnacle! we need to understand that the conditions are different in different test playing nations and winning in all conditions is equally important. I would not put "winning in Aus" above everything else.

In the 90's on paper they were a much much better team than us but they kind of underachieved,they were never as dominant as home as India was but overseas they did much better than us but with the squad we had,we always punched above our weight. Infact they never won a test series in WI while we almost drew a test series with one of our weakest teams,They lost to Zimbabwe but yes they did well in other countries. So when you compare on paper you will think,Pak with the team they had were invincible but the joke is on them as there wasn't some huge difference as they would like to beleive despite us having a much weaker team in comparison

In this decade India definitely has an upper hand in many cricketing aspects. (1) Pakistan players were proven guilty of spot fixing whereas no such scandal has happened in India since 2000. (2) India has won ODI WC in 2011 whereas Pakistan has not won any ODI WC since 2000. (3)India has found world class batting talent like Virat and Chet. The only advantage Pakistan cricket has done better than Indian cricket since 2000 is that they have developed a world class spinner in Ajmal

We were utterly rubbish against the Paks in the late 80s to late 90s. Its pretty hard to beat a team that had Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Aaqib Javed when your best pacemen are Venkatesh Prasad, Paras Mhambrey and Iqbal Siddique. If it was not enough that their team had some brilliant players already, they added new tormentors like Azhar Mahmood, who routinely destroyed our batting line-ups for fun. Besides, back then, our team was just a collection of rabid match-fixers anyway. As captain, Azhar sold more games than he actually played. Jadeja was the head of recruiting for Azhar's fixing operation while Mongia was responsible for Human resources. Thankfully, Sachin was so good and so indispensable to us back then that the they left him untouched. But we have clearly had the upper hand ever since one Mr. Virendar Sehwag ended half the Pakistani bowling attack's career in Multan in 2003-04 season. That was the pivotal moment in the balance of power between the two teams and the pendulum has swung decisively in our favor from that point onwards. Of course, it does help that Pakistani selectors continue to select players who are either utter divas (Show-aib Actor) who hate each other so much that they actually want to kill each other by poisoning the breakfasts. Typically, any Pakistani team has at least 5-7 current ex/current captains who are trying to influence the team, so that makes it easy for us.

Just confirmed the Sharjah ODIs. Out of 24 ODIs India won 6 and Pakistan won 18. Now wonder Indias win / loss ratio was badly screwed up against Pakistan till 2000. Once Sharjah was banned, things improved for India. So I suggest, India should not play any more international in Sharjah against Pakistan. Dont know why IPL is played again there. It should not pave way for international cricket there for India- Pak matches in near future. It is a badly jinxed ground for India.

I think turning point was 2003 WC when Sachin massacred Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib. It was a message - This is how things are going to be from now on.

Pakistan were definitely better till 2000 ...they were easily the better of two sides in era of late 70s to late 90s ....post 2000 very few test matches played between the two but India had edge with better batting line up and an average bowling side in SC pitches. In ODI India and Pakistan were pretty equal post 2000 with India getting better as Dhoni took over in past 7 years.
