@ Detonator Even if you eat non veg, meat should only make up 30% of your diet. The rest should come from fruits, vegetables, grains and diary products. I ate Japanese food three times a day, every freaking day for six weeks. Their meals have the 70:30 ratio. Take it from me, their food is as healthy as it gets, you don't live to an average of 85 years without eating the right food.
completely agree. you shld also notice the japanese do a hell of physical work. I believe many prefer cycle for daily commutation. their daily routine is much different from us. veg or non veg, if ppl don't run around and just sit in front of computer, the food they take is complete waste.

Unless you eat dal (pulses) every day of the week' date=' I do not know how you get will sufficient protein and even then that is a very inferior protein when compared to meat[/quote'] Dal and sambar takes care of this, forms staple diet of majority of Indians.

eat yogurt instead of milk. much healthier. south asian preparation of meat are laden with butter, not healthy. drink chicken soup not with much added salt, but with pepper. btw nonveg food is lot less enviroment friendly than veg food.

The problem isn't in the consumption of the protein but assimilation. Meat is readily assimilated but vegetarian foods aren't so. However, I would be surprised if the body doesn't get used to it over a period of time.

What % of protein can rotis have? Aren't they mostly carbohydrates?
15%. Lentils have 30% and Eggs have 12% protein. milk has 4% , people typically consume 600 gms of milk/ milk products daily.

beef has 26% protein and 18% fat chicken has 31% protein and 4% fat mutton has 33% protein and 11% fat milk has 3% protein and 3% fat Yogurt has 6% protein and 0% fat clearly non-veg is better than veg.. and my observation abt our diet , we dont take enough fruits/vegetables unlike the western guys.. also when we eat high calorie food like meat , we tend to take less in quantity and have more space for other healthier supplements like fruits..

1 roti has close to same amount of protein as 1 egg.. With daal' date=' roti, yogurt, bit of ghee, salad, you can't get better and healthier than that....[/quote'] 100gms of roti == 1.3 gms fat && 10 gms of protein 100gms of egg== 10 gms fat && 13 gms of protein

Thats incorrect. one gets a balanced diet fairly easily by not eating non-veg too.

if kejri dont take meat , it dosnt mean u shld not

^Ok, I will talk abt myself only if thats more acceptable. I find it pretty easy to get a balanced diet on veg. food. I live on a normal north Indian vegetarian home food plus milk and fruits. Have undergone comprehensive health check-up including blood test in which all parameters (hemoglobin etc) came out normal. I do not feel that I want to sacrifice on fruits intake due to the veg. diet.

I just returned home after holidaying in Japan for six weeks. Japanese people have one of the highest life expectancies in the world and it is mostly down to the food they eat. The ratio of veg to non veg in their meals is 70:30.
And Meat they eat is mostly Fish, lot of it raw or cooked in a stew. Far healthier than Fried Fish that the Bengalis Love. In fact Fried Fish is just as bad as a Samosa. There is one particular region in Japan on one of the islands, where the longevity is close to 89 or so years. Secret of their success -- BITTER GOURD ! or popularly known as Karela.

The thing is if you dont eat meat, you have to compensate with eating other alternatives to make up for protein and fat like eggs, milk, nuts, fruits etc. But many veggies dont compensate with other food. They have a stupid mentality of thinking meat is harmful to body and being veggie is best. This is why many people have poor nutrition levels and suffer from malnutrition and hence have poor stamina and strength.

What the hell does a lower quality of life mean.....I do understand Vegan lifestyle that many westerners adopt as an extreme step to shun meet is stupid but Indian vegetarian diet has the perfect mix of all necessary nutrients.

Show us the data. Your statement is, at best, a somewhat reasonable hypothesis. Until there is an evidence-based conclusion, there is nothing to see.
