Jersey #10 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Knowing Lankan cricket management and nangakara, they'll intentionally try to chase this. Ravan tried before and he can try again, he'll never defeat Ram.
CrazyCric Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Among Indian batsmen I would rate Sanga behind Gavaskar' date= Dravid, Sachin, Laxman and Sehwag. He is probably ahead of every other Indian batsman. Mahela would be further down, I can foresee at least ten Indian batsmen who would be ahead of Mahela due to their strong overseas performances. Sanga def better that FTB Sehwag, and Laxman in tests.
carnish Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sangakkara though a guy who resorts to cheating and over-appealing is a very good batsman. Proper technique and a knack of scoring big runs. He rarely misses out on any chance to score runs be it at home or away and I have never seen him in any big trouble against any bowler which means he has been a real challenge to everyone in all conditions. His record all over the world is exemplary, I know that he averages less than 40 in some countries but even Dravid has that blot in his record and Sanga has played a lot less outside Asia.
carnish Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sanga def better that FTB Sehwag' date=' and Laxman in tests.[/quote'] I agree with you on Sehwag but he can never be better than Laxman ... The way Lax dominated the best Aussie team ever both home and away was a treat and something never seen by Sanga. Plus Laxman was a no.5 batsman and has won India many tests with their back to the walls which I rarely remember Sanga doing.
sillymidoff Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 what sachin record? the most tests/runs is a record due to his longevity in the sport. i wouldn't call it an iconic record like the lara 400 or the bradman 99.94. i'm almost certain tendulkar would give up half those runs/matches for one iconic test knock, something his resume sadly lacks.

velu Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sanga def better that FTB Sehwag' date=' and Laxman in tests.[/quote'] keep posting
kaptaan Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sanga def better that FTB Sehwag' date=' and Laxman in tests.[/quote'] Laxman is clearly better than sanga away from the subcontinent. While sanga vs sehwag is debatable...both have 5 tons in almost equal no.of innings sanga has better average with 4 notouts ..while sehwag has better StrikeRate
Vilander Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 amoung SC bats,Sanga is a bit less than Laxman and a bit better than Sewag, all below Sachin,Dravid, and Sunny. He is right at the bottom of the great bats. Probably Sewag is the cusp of great and good. Do not know about Miandad, if someone from green corner can throw some light... Guess Jayawardene is below all these guys and probably Inzi too..wonder how is Aravinda's away record. ps: quote test stats pls.

rageaddict Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sangakkara has a great knack of scoring big runs . He has also scored the most number of double tons in Test Match Cricket , 2nd only to Bradman and is likely to go past Don in the coming future.
maniac Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sanga might end up overtaking Sachin but will always be one of those mid-tier legends much like Alan Border.....Border was never a benchmark for a super star batsmen, same with Sanga.
Marut Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Sanga def better that FTB Sehwag' date=' and Laxman in tests.[/quote'] Laxman is easily ahead due to his sterling career defining knocks that Sangakkara can only dream of. With Sehwag you can argue a case on the basis of his modest achievements outside the subcontinent, but Sanga is no giant outside the SC, averaging less than 40 in four countries - in SA, England, India and WI - these are not hallmarks of an ATG batsman. And Sehwag's strike rates ( 50% higher than Sanga) put him on an altogether different plane. Both Laxman and Sehwag average less than 40 in only two major nations.

sillymidoff Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 i've said this before in the same thread as well, none of sachin's so called records are real bonafide records. they show his longevity in the sport, not his superior ability.
putrevus Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Sanga and Sachin comparison is like comparing a pauper to a billionaire. Sanga becomes nanga when he is away from sub continent, where as Sachin has scored runs all over
