surajmal
Here is one ecological impact, it seems straight forward but a lay person cannot gauge the worthiness of such articles and the issues they are trying bring out and that's why there is a need for a ecological impact study by neutral experts. Any economic panel should take the ecological impact into account before bringing out economic impact papers. The indian river linking project a geologic ecological and socio economic perspective Bangladeshi view point. Guy is actually in favour of floods because his government is incapable of managing water properly.

Wouldn't the same science apply to rivers reaching the ocean in india too?
surajmal
Wouldn't the same science apply to rivers reaching the ocean in india too? Salinity intrusion is one of many buzz words, lacking in any strong evidence, that ecoterrorists have been using since the idea of river interlinking was first earnestly floated in the 80s. For India, most rivers reaching the ocean are seasonal. So, if salinity intrusion is such a big issue, what happens during non monsoon portion of the year when flow is naturally low? And regarding the ecosystem BS (again a strawman). If you can't manage bloody mangroves in the 21st century with all the science and technology available at your disposal, then you deserve no help from the almighty either.
