Its up to the BJP. If they can control some of the regressive fools in BJP/RSS then the good work done by the govt will get good coverage, if not then the media narrative will always be focused on controversial statements from publicity hungry people.

Its not that simple. You need money for example to change the media narrative your way The BJP might just be hanging on to its money , to be spend in times of need. Secondly we are looking at the English narative. The marathi narative for example in papers like Maharashtra Timea and Loksatta or even news channel likes Star Manjha etc definatively anti congress for example. The problem with the land bill for example if even sections of the BJP and RSS have major reservations about it. I have major reservations.
Then why pushing Land Bill? Why giving chance to the opposition to unite? Why so much of overconfidence when you don't have numbers? To hell with all the controversial bills? Has BJP taken contract to pass all the controversial bills? First concentrate on making your position strong, control the media narrative, win some more elections...

fully agree with you there. IMO they should push for the GST which there is a good chance of passing. Land bill is just too senstitive and should be devolved to the states. Places where the BJP already has a strong hold they can implement i. For eg Gujarat and MP. In terms of reforms IMO india needs so many reforms that there are already many low hanging fruits which can be tapped to drastically improve the growth rate.

I would also like to add, while boosting manufacturing is a key target for India. Land is not the only factor which can be used to develop it. Labour reforms, tax incentives, infrasturcture from roads and trasports to availability of power , keeping the currency stables, diplomacy to sign FTAs to allow access to your goods abroad etc, ease of access to finance all are needed as well. On my last visit to mumbai many small scale manufacturing units already set up (such as leather industries etc and textiles) were facing major issues with regards to the availability of power. I am not saying land reform is not needed. But maybe into your second term from a position of strength. This land bill is a big worry and a gamble politically.

Thats just not true .Remember Jaya govt in 2001-2006? She did very well after 2004 LS polls .But still lost becoz of her rule in 01-04. Negatives image will last much longer than any positives done in last 6-12 months
TN politics is much different from rest of India.. we have friggin news channels like kalaingar and jaya, who run 24/7 political campaign. For ROI, if the negatives had lasted longer, we might not seen UPA 2 and PVNR govts.,

Agree. Flipside is, it would be no different than UPA regimes.. Empty promises, Mundane bills but talk big. Even if Land Bill is not pushed, Media will find a way to blame BJP.

There is no alternative to reforming the land bill. If you really want to achieve achche din in the coming years, it will require building a domestic base for manufacturing, power plants, mining activities, roads/railways/airports, new smart cities etc, all of which require a good amount of land. It will require some farmers to move away from their land and they will have to be suitably compensated. The only alternative is business as usual, agriculture employing 50% of labor but contributing 18% of GDP and keeping millions in poverty as well as driving thousands to suicide every year. Either employ these people in newer more productive jobs or adopt the usual congi ways (dolenomics come election time, garibi hatao every few decades) and hope the public believes u. Honestly, you might as well start preaching secularism every other day while you're aping the congis.

Another lie propogated by Media to put Modi/BJP in good light. Nothing like that happened. Media seem to be falling over each other in their cheerleading job for Modi.

The manner in which the rural masses keep sabotaging themselves in our country simply makes me wanna scream. Politicians may mislead you, but are people so deficient of self-awareness that they can't effin think for themselves? My heart goes out to the past generations. They really, really had to suffer.

The sad reality is that every single politician who is opposing this bill fully knows this. Yet, they have used it as a political tool to unite all opposition parties and claim to be saviors of the farmer. Many many farmers in India are no longer interested in farming. They would rather work in the industrial sector. Farming is unpredictable and the returns are meager. Working in industry guarantees a steady source of income. With fewer farms, we can concentrate more on technologies that will get higher yields and consequently good returns for those still left in the agricultural sector.

BJP have done well in Aurangabad along with the Sena. Not so much in Navi Mumbai which was an NCP stronghold. Shiv sena rebels appear to be the cause for the defeat (though it appears to be tight at the moment) Congress + NCP 34 Sena-BJP-RPI- 24 Others 2 60 seats decalred 113 total number of seats.

Bolded part . This is the flip side of having democracy in a developing country.

In one word, YES. We wouldn't have our population has as much as today if it were any different. Applies to all of us, farmers just get a worse deal given the vagaries of primitive agriculture practices.

Help the farmers now and the entire country over the long term.

In Aurangabad Sena-BJP have got the majority, big improvement on their performance. Sena-BJP fluffed their lines in navi mumbai. NCP has held their fort , though have been weakned in the process.. Sena-BJP have boosted their numbers from last time. But Ganesh Naik has prevailed and should be able to form the administration with the NCP-Congress. Naik maybe a courrupt man but he has led a low key efficient campgaign. Shiv sena rebels are a factor in many seats. Though i doubt if the sena-bjp would be able to form government there. Congress have withered away. I am starting to think i overestimated the congress and underestimated the NCP. On the whole while the Sena-BJP have increased their numbers in both minicipal councils, it could have been much better. This win is a shot in the arm for the NCP who will now demand a better deal with the congress in the upcoming minicipal and zilla parishad elections. For the Sena-BJP hmm it makes sense in some places for them to fight together such as Aurangabad where MIM will each up votes of the congress. It makes sense to fight alone in navi mumbai. But the rise of the MIM has meant in places like Mumbai and Marathwada the Congress and NCP will always be fighting with one hand behind their backs.

feck me its got neck and neck in navi mumbai after a series of Sena-BJP victories. Rumours that Sena-BJP will break the congress who hate Ganesh naik in equal measure. Ncp-congress still odds on to form the city admin but dont rule out the Sena-BJP talking to the congress. The BJP especially is in contact with congress councillors and might pip the sena for post of mayor.

not good news for the bjp in West Bengal.... I doubt they will be able to win any of the 91 municipalities..... bit of a hammer blow. CPM on course to win 20-30 TMC the rest.

I hope this news is wrong but it seems that the BJP has crashed and burned in west bengal civic polls. Forget the trinamool, CPM have crushed them. I really hope i am wrong.
