New case of taqqiya revealed to aam junta on twitter: Shahid Siddiqui's. Good good. Social media will be crucial in unmasking of the Ropers to the population at large. {Namo's push towards increasing broadband usage will have many side effects}

Thanks. Doesn't seem like BJP will get outright majority. Hopefully BJP will be close enough to entice some in HJC,INLD to jump ship. Gonna be a hung VS. In the worst case scenario, if BJP forms a coalition with INLD, I think they can keep a check on Chautala gang since I'm sure they are involved in many other shady situations so Shah and co. will have several levers to press. Revival of INLD is because of several factors: - Jat Buddhi - Hooda being completely in bed with Italian mafia. Dumbass should have cut bait after the last VS elections. But mota dimag. - Atal/Advani duo completely ignored development of BJP base in Haryana (like several other states). As a consequence they also don't have a local face to sell. Next 5 years is for simply getting the party back on track.

http://attendance.gov.in/ Impressive but maybe overreach. Also this proves that Namo is serious about taking the entire bureaucratic racket online. In 5 years the day-today corruption (at the central level) will be down, I've no doubt. Hopefully, State BJP govts will follow suit.

I wanted to post this in the "Performance Thread" - you beat me to it. Modi deserves credit to make the attendance system Aadhar enabled and to expose it to the public on a website. The idea was pitched to Modi by Nandan and the website is developed by NIC + UIDAI using Twitter Bootstrap. Biometric attendance systems existed at various places but they weren't linked to Aadhar or exposed to the public. The good part here is that you can see your regular Sharmaji if he's coming to the office or not.

how does this monitor corruption though? even if sharmaji come to office on time, who knows what his actions are like?

also for sensitive departments like ministry of defense, the details should be kept secure. i hope modi sarkar also starts some sort of performance evaluation trials like we have in private sector and link them to salary raises and promotions.

I would expect to see more cogs in the future. That said, an honest attempt should be given credit where due. The website is responsive and great however, I would like to seem some SLA from the website about accuracy of data. In simple words, the data should be able to be used in lawsuits.

The attendance portal is now password protected and you can't view individual attendance. Also,

“Members of our technology team felt there was no need for the general public to know when an official had clocked in or out, and how many days of leave he had taken in a month,” said an official of the National Informatics Centre, which manages government websites. “Nor is it necessary for people to know which government office an official is visiting on a given day.” Officials, however, clarified that Modi hadn’t been consulted on the latest move since he was away campaigning —and that consulting him wasn’t necessary since the portal hadn’t yet been officially launched. “Once he returns, he will take the final call,” a source said.

Rajan given Best Central Bank Governor award by Euromoney
“Now, he is battling vested interests to arouse a sleepy financial system for over one billion people... Remarkably, the internationally-renowned economist, who earned acclaim for his warnings in 2005 of an upcoming global crisis of sorts, has, for the past year been true to his word,” Euromoney said. “As he confronted capital outflows, the rupee at record lows, and over-blown but palpable fears India was marching towards an Asia-crisis style abyss, Mr. Rajan duly administered tough monetary medicine to ailing bond and currency markets,” Euromoney added.

Modi government will have to answer some serious questions on this issue. It was a major election issue.

NEW DELHI: The Union government on Friday filed an application in the Supreme Court, saying it cannot disclose details of foreign accounts held by Indians which are governed by bilateral double taxation avoidance treaties. Petitioner and senior advocate Ram Jethmalani said this is an attempt by Narendra Modi government to shield those who stashed black money abroad. Jethmalani said such a plea could be made only by crooks who have illegally parked their ill-gotten money abroad and not by a democratically elected government. The apex court agreed to hear Centre's application on October 28. Attorney general Mukul Rohatagi said the government cannot reveal names of those foreign account holders against whom no prosecution is launched. The attorney general told the apex court court that revelation of names of Liechtenstein Bank account holders has been seriously objected to by the German government. The government is on the verge of signing important double taxation avoidance treaties with many countries, including USA in December, the attorney general added. "If names of those not prosecuted are given out, then it will dry up the foreign government sources which provide the information about Indians stashing illegal money abroad," Mukul Rohatagi said.

would like to see the PM give a statement or at least explain how India is fighting to make sure ebola doesn't arrive in the country. this thing is getting out of hand and we are only a few steps away from an epidemic/pandemic. just remember one mode of transmission of ebola is feces and we know how many indians openly defecate. it makes me so angry that none of the news channels are giving this any importance
