^ 25th is holiday..not sure how its possible to implement this.
Either they are extremely stupid or are doing this deliberately as mischief... These guys will be kicked out of power if they continue their stupid ways...

The essay competition is online and not during school.
Looks like there is 2500/- prize & certificate as well , hmmmm this doesn't look so bad.

Read the second last paragraph of the picture I posted. A Report has to be submitted specifying activities carried put in schools along with photos and videos - I would think that photos and videos would be of activities carried out within the school and not online.

Education minister Smriti Irani has denied that schools will be open on Christmas Day, but a circular sent out by the government's Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has asked schools it runs to hold activities to observe 'good governance day' on December 25.
Her ministry later clarified that the celebrations were limited only to Navodaya schools which did not have a winter break. Citing that they are residential schools, the ministry added that students who stayed back "will have the opportunity to participate if they so wish in the essay completion" which it reiterated was being held "online".

too many controversies within 6 months of Modi rule.. hope it doesnt backfire in the next general elections. Modi & his ministers should simply concentrate on India story & have to set aside the controversies for atleast an year.

These are minor things...as long as Govt performance is fine where it really matters everything is going to be alright.

So was Vajpayee's govenrment performance but we all know the end result. These small controversies will be projected as large. Government will have to take a stand either they want to go ahead with right wing politics or they are completely opposed to it. The moment they would try to balance out, voters will get confused. Polarization is like two sided sword, If the Indian voter is confuse he will not vote which actually happened in 2004 and it will result in votes going in opponent favour.

There is a difference. Vajpayee/Advani didn't put serious efforts to strengthen party all over India. Modi/Shah are totally different. Also there are more than 4 years for next election, this stupid stuffs will be reduced by then anyway.

As the Smriti Irani-led Human Resource Development Ministry tries to douse a controversy over observing December 25 as ‘Good Governance Day’ in schools, it has now emerged that higher education institutions, too, were asked to organise activities to mark the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malaviya. In a circular dated December 12 sent to vice-chancellors of all Central Universities, the ministry had asked them to mark the day by organising a seminar on “use of technology and innovations in promoting good governance†as well as an “oratoryâ€. The ministry had also announced cash prizes of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for winners of the oratory competition as well as prizes for those who gave “new ideas†in the seminar. The ministry had also asked for “a compliance report on observance of Good Governance Day and on holding of oratory competitionâ€. The circular clearly states the events “are to be organised†and does not mention they are voluntary.
