vvvslaxman Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Posting only part of the article ... http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2014/content/story/748627.html Surprised I have not been decoded- Narine Sunil Narine's economy rate of 5.65 is the best in the IPL. As ably as he contains, the record he holds for the most four-wicket hauls (6) in the league confirms containment is not his only skill. A host of variations have helped him hoodwink most batsmen across three seasons, but the West Indies spinner wonders why his mystery hasn't been decoded yet. "Sometimes I am surprised that they already haven't with all the technology available nowadays," he told the Hindu. "I do not fear that though, as I only concentrate on working harder and just focus on trying to do my bit as best as I can. "I do try and be accurate more often as that's always the key. Variations in this format are always a very good option to have as they have the batsmen guessing." His numbers in Tests are well below par. An average over 40 and a strike rate touching 80 contributes to him not being a regular member of the squad. "It's something I am still trying to learn and understand," Narine said. "I am sure if I work hard at it and continue to get opportunities I will get better at bowling in that format. Endurance and patience are the key [factors] in Tests."
Brainfade Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 They are planning a new documentary : "Fifteen degrees of separation" starring Sunil Narine and Sachitra Senanayake.
yoda Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 He is good. His deliveries bounce/turn/do something different every time, which keeps batsmen guessing. He rarely bowls gimme short ones or full tosses on leg stump, etc.
SLICKR392 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Viru has already decoded and smashed him all around the park.
maniac Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Lol.....rohit sharma will make anything that wears or has ever worn a maroon jersey look like a gully cricketer :hysterical:
Lord Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Play more against Kohli in international matches :D Kohli had trouble against him.only Viru has looked comfortable against him
I6MTW Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Glenn Maxwell thrashed him in world cup. Jadeja hit 38 off 13 balls last year, smashing Narine. He also hit a six of his first ball, against Narine(the only ball he faced against him this season). Viru reads him easily. He sucks in intl t20's, odi's, and tests. Only in IPL he performs.
Old guy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Kohli had trouble against him.only Viru has looked comfortable against him When ? He easily handled him every time lately
SLICKR392 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 When ? He easily handled him every time lately Narine got him in CT. He is very cautious against Narine and does well, but not as comfy as Viru.
Lord Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 When ? He easily handled him every time lately Narine got him in one of the IPL matches this season IIRC.The UAE one I think also he got him in CT match last year. Hes not as clueless as some others but has problems reading him
Old guy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Narine got him in one of the IPL matches this season IIRC.The UAE one I think also he got him in CT match last year. Hes not as clueless as some others but has problems reading him Ipl does not count Every forsaking bowler has got him here And in internationals why are you forgetting recent matches ? He easily played him and so did rohit infact he was literally useless
Old guy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Narine got him in CT. He is very cautious against Narine and does well' date=' but not as comfy as Viru.[/quote'] He is smart to not attack best bowler also in ct he was out of form and picked up form as tournament progressed and looked great in semi final and final
Lord Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Ipl does not count Every forsaking bowler has got him here And in internationals why are you forgetting recent matches ? He easily played him and so did rohit infact he was literally useless Which recent international match?WT20 one?.There we were chasing 130 odd and he could play him out.I dont remember him attacking Narine much
Old guy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Which recent international match?WT20 one?.There we were chasing 130 odd and he could play him out.I dont remember him attacking Narine much Any West Indies match there have been a lot
Lord Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Any West Indies match there have been a lot We haven't played them much recently :hmmm:
SLICKR392 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Narine also had the better of Kohli in his debut series, whereas Sehwag tonked him around in the same series.
Old guy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Narine also had the better of Kohli in his debut series' date=' whereas Sehwag tonked him around in the same series.[/quote'] You are missing the lately part of my comment Narine being mystery spinner will pawn batsman at start but good ones will read him Hussey is good example who within series started playing him well
I6MTW Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Decent Batsmen will read him, which is why he succeeds only in the IPL, which is more of hacks than decent batsmen.
