Vilander
i read on cricinfo that then Binny Jr. was being disscussed,Binny Sr. walked out of the room. Binny Jr. was picked by the brain dead selectors even without the influence of his dad. It's scary to think that they think this way yeah and it seems pigs started flying all around the BCCI HQ right after that.. Sachin=GOD
Ok KT, its very rare you make a non hate fuelled rational statement so let us discuss. We need an allrounder, desperately. We need the 5th bowler but we need the rear guard action when going in with 5 main batsmen, as you mentioned relying on only 5 is risky. In essence what we need is an allrounder. A seaming all rounder is essential when we tour Eng, Aus and the WC in Aus!! Ideally this should have been Pathan but.......:(( I fully agree Binny is a sifarshi player. Had he not been father Binny's offspring then he would not have made it into FC cricket as well!! But the requirement is definitely there. If Binny succeeds then its great, thats the only reason Im routing for him. The only seam bowling all rounder in a country of a BILLION!! But we don't have one - thats the reality. So its better to go with 6 batsmen or 5 bowlers to least strengthen one aspect rather than going with Jadeja/Binny and weakening both bowling and batting. Link to comment

youngindia
the team management is screwing itself by raising non existent issues that will bring no progress for indian cricket. you get rewarded by focusing on winning matches. For a top tier team,A player has to be there as a brilliant world class matchwinner.no less. and how do people expect a guy with a 36 FC average(over 10 years mind you) and dibbly dobbly bowling skills to set the world on fire? he does possess some useful striking ability. but what are the the chances of him averaging even 30 internationally ? just because you say 'open sesame" hes going to turn into a 40 ave batsmen? the stern requirement of international cricket is only the brilliant and the more gifted survive there long term. there is a reason the likes of sehwag/dravid/laxman survive for 10+ years while amre and jaffer are sent back after shorter stints this simple fact is time and again lost on some who expect great things out of likes of chopra,jp yadav, bangar, vinay kumar and what not Link to comment
