Good captains will make the most of what he has at his disposal. I don't say George Bailey is a great captain. In the IPL all he had at his disposal was Akshar patel. Dhoni had Ashwin, Jadeja. Guess who blamed the bowlers more.

Expected him to bowl 140plus and trouble them with reverse but he is barely crossing 135 and still spraying the ball.

I was expecting him to bowl with some pace at the tail because he is the one bowler who has pace but he was barely clocking 80-82 mph. When there is no swing and on a slow pitch, it's very easy to handle. His line and length were also not good most of the innings and was drifting on to the legs. Perhaps he will get better as series goes on. It would be too harsh to criticize bowlers on this pitch. Eng bowlers could not do much on this wicket either throughout this match, apart from a brief good spell after lunch on first day where they picked a couple of wickets and later on, they were lucky with Vijay wicket and Binny, Jaddu gave them their wickets away. Ishant, B Kumar have done way above expectations really on this track.

You are right, pitch was not responsive, but it does not make you bowl slow in the air at least against a tailender when pace has been your forte previously. Plunkett was bowling around 85-87 mph and basically bowling short deliveries 90 % of the time but they didnt rise above waist level either.

Yes but he was still doing at better pace than 80 mph and they had other bowlers who were doing their stuff bowling up, trying to swing likes of Anderson and Stokes. They were trying to mix the things to unsettle the footwork of the batsmen. It is not like every one of them was bowling short. If you don't have pace then why keep bowling short on this pitch for that long. Even BK bowled short at 74 mph and smashed for boundary.

It is so rare that india bowlers to do well even if it is for one session.there is no guarantee on a seaming deck other team will not score 400 plus it happened before many times If it was just this match it would be ok but even in last test in nz they were 85/5 staring at defeat when we know what happened , joburg 448 chase was made to look like 200 chase that too in fourth innings. You cannot blame pitch for jimmy making 81 sorry that is just a cope out. Is it captain overtaxing the bowlers or is it bowlers unable to finish as they are mentally checking out once they get some wickets.
