Olivier is terrific but don't underrate someone like sipamla, if he does get a chance he is one those nagging line length bowlers around 82-84 mph in pace with great seam movement. I just hope our batsmen work on their footwork before the sa series, some drills with a wet bowl, also they need to be playing the pull consistently, once rabada gets hit around he at times doesn't seem to have a plan B.

Ngidi too. He can be intimidating in south africa.

Our batsmen are hopeless if the oldies are picked again. Quota players are going to get smashed. If we pick a younger team we can beat the saffers.

Make no mistake. Olivier/sipamla nortje rabada qdk Elgar Markram Mulder etc. This is no joke. They aren't weak by any means. They are as strong as they were in the past. For some reason results do not reflect their true ability.

It's a strong unit. England have always beaten them in the past. Even in 2000 era England won in s.africa. so don't mistaken them losing to England as a sign of weakness. Not too long ago they also beat new zeland away without ABD although steyn morkel and philander played.

If anything current bowling looks even stronger tbh. Steyn wasn't In his prime when they last beat Kiwis.

Ishant Sharma out of the 2nd test.

One of the better things that could have happened to our bowling unit.

This is the 8th test that Ishant is missing due to injury in the last 2 years. What is the point of continuing with such an injury prone old pacer who is not performing in recent times either and looking slow and out of energy !

Problem is ... in 2021, Ishant, Umesh and Shami are old and keep running out of steam.

All of them were superb in the 2015 to 2019 period, when they were younger and energetic.

Indian fast bowlers in the last 12 months ( on 3rd December 2021 )

Bowling averages ...

Ishant.    32.71 from 8 tests

Shami     30.06 from 5 tests

Umesh.   29.41 from 5 tests

Siraj.       29.40 from 10 tests

Bumrah. 27.84 from 10 tests

Shardul. 22.07 from 3 test

Indian quicks' performances have dipped sharply in the last year ... especially the 3 older ones. ( Siraj is jusf starting his career and averaging 29 is ok in the first 10 tests )

It is this current form and ability that matters most.

Last year is also when we moved from sporty wickets to dust bowls

Why is Jayant Yadav playing ahead of Kuldeep Yadav ?

Is he perceived to be a better bowler ?

Or do we have to choose bowlers based on batting ability because we have to have 3 duds at 3 to 5 ?

Because Kuldeep is useless.
