Hope he is in form ...  which is not always easy after an injury induced break.  But, he can get back in groove by the 2nd innings.

The quickest ball by the English has been 137.x  kph till the 15th over.

 

These English seamers look very ordinary without consistent movement on offer.

There has been consistent swing till now, but to be honest, it is not the swing that troubles the most, it is the movement off the pitch, which has not been there and today their lines have been wider too.

That is their usual average speeds.  Only Stokes is quicker and Broad on rare occasions.

The swing has not been alarming .  The seam movement has not been alarming too.  Trundler need alarming movement.

 

If the movement increases later ... they may bowl better.

Effect of left-right combination perhaps. Makes it more difficult for seamers to bowl in good areas.

Some balls have started to swing in big now ... and that is putting doubts in the minds of the batters even regarding the other deliveries.

 

Some consistent and significant outswing from Woakes too.

Gavaskar was saying in the lunch break that Woakes has got wickets because he has pitched the ball up ... while the others did not to do so often enough.

 

Woakes got 2 wickets with good length balls and 1 with a proper short ball.

 

These experts either refer to good length balls as pitches up balls too ...  or are so biased in their beliefs that they cannot see what is happening.

 

Either way ...  shows that their words are hardly sacrosant.
