Speeds and Performances of Pacers and Spinners

Nothing new for Aus player to perform well when needed, this is how their cricket is.

Aus bowlers always has some kind of reserve tanks when it comes to bowling in big games, they can bowl extra 3-5 kmph faster. This is called raising the game.

There was no other proper pacer before 3rd game he took it on him heself to lead the bowling attack and bowled at sustained pace. He is capalble of bowling 140-145 normally, and some effort ball uptp 148 kmph.

In Ashes so far he is been able to crank up pace and breaching 145 kmph often

As per Priyank Panchal , Praful Hinge has deceptive pace.

Here Praful , bowling in their Domestic t20 league , do not think he is that quick , yes quick for the league.

Deceptive may be but if he is deceptive that is a good thing for t20s

This is a good league too

Subham kapse was good too , think he was quickest of the league

Lalit yadav is tall but not that quick but a decent out fielder

Did u even watch his last ashes (which wasn’t long time back)? He often bowls 145 consistently in the Ashes. Not just that even several series after.
So you’re saying Starcs speeds are biased higher but Archers r not?

Also have u watched Cummins speeds? Exactly in the range he bowls. Almost precisely like that.

I have seen enough of Starc

Starc doesn't get remotely close to these speeds these days, capable? offcourse he's capable

But you didn't get my point , I was implying about extended spells

He hasn't done that in years

Ashes?lol,Ashes have been won or drawn mostly by only one team, home or away

Aussie players don't have butterflies in their stomach while featuring in those contests, especially not here, they will rather take it easy

Speed guns measure at release point, but factors like seam position or radar angle can distort readings, how differently they can measure for different individuals?

I understand what u mean. But I’ve seen him consistently bowl in the range 143-146 often. Check the last Ashes in England. You might even find speeds posted in this forum itself but  not sure if they were pasted.

Things that support his speeds:

1: Speeds relative to Archer, Wood, Stokes, Gus Atkinson, Aus trundlers in the earlier matches. Archers and Woods peak speeds were higher. Starc beat them on consistency. Speeds relative to Cummins n Archer in the present match

2: Also note that these are bowlers of different types / actions / some front on / some more side on / mixed etc. Operate at different speed ranges and some are seam / some swing etc.

3: Reading consistency over the entire match. We saw Archer bowl quickly in his first spells and then slow down. That’s how he bowls and the speed guns caught that in the first match. Exactly same observations for Wood. U saw Archer more engaged when Smith took him on at the end of the second match. Speeds picked up on the reading. This tells me the speed guns are consistent over the match.

Your entire argument is based on 2:

1: He is not consistent in bowling 90 mph. Like I said I’ve seen him do that multiple times. That’s his core strength. Off course he won’t do that everytime but he’s hit it in him and has demonstrated it.

2: Australians r not nervous / don’t have “butterflies” and hence no reason to push their bodies. LOL u don’t need to have butterflies to put extra effort. You can always take the responsibility n be determined to bowl quick in a series that’s hyped. Check his interview with the Jason / Fleming after the first match.

3: Your entire argument that somehow the radar is inaccurate just for Starc due to his angle / seam position is extremely weak. Possible but unlikely. (1 & 2).

Overall starc is capable of hitting 145-148 kmph,

he still constantly bowls early 140s to 145 kmph, this is a hype series and Aus are know to be able to push when needed. Cummins can also push nothing new to them.

this is what makes them better side in icc events and towards the business end of the series, where others fade they rise.

Here he was the only proper exp. and proper fast bowler in Aus side for 2 tests and he pushed for extra pace.

Now that he only plays tests and Odis  he needs to be good at those

Starc bowling express pace. Adopting short ball strategy now.

Brett wants him to slip in a 150k Yorker lol

Bumrah's wrist snap is 63 kph too. Archer 67 kph.

Most quicker pacers have between 50 kph to 58 kph.

The problem is Bumrah run up is way too slow. So his wrist snap may be marginally quicker on average but he loses big time in run up. Also puts too much stress on his body. He can’t change that but that reduces his pace a lot.

But Bumrah I’m sure has greater arm speed than Starc.

But also that last minute explosiveness makes him more difficult to handle. So that definitely works in Bumrahs  favor. So he and Archer hurry up the batsmen more.

The run up, arm speed, wrist snap is I think the best innovation in bowling analytics. Complete game changer.
Would be interesting to see Mayank numbers when he was bowling peak speeds.
All new bowlers should be put through those numbers. And also existing players especially when they come back from injury.
