Both Bumrah and Shami were absolutely vicious in Australia 2018/19. I have posted the videos in the new Video thread.

We started our 2020/21 tour of Australia with a lot of aggression too. 

 

Our pacers were Bumrah, Shami, Umesh, Siraj, Saini and Tyagi as net bowler.

 

In the practice matches, Bumrah was vicious against Ben McDermott with nasty short stuff and Umesh went after their keeper. Then Siraj and Saini fired lots of bouncers and hit Harry Conway and Tyagi injured Pucovski. 

 

The injury to Shami in the first test broke his pairing with Bumrah. But Bumrah continued the hostility against Wade, Green and Smith till the 3rd test and hit all of them. Siraj went after Labuchagne and hit his helmet twice. 

 

India's tour of Australia is turning into something special. But this TM may ruin it with Unadkat types.

Top batsman like Marnus who has played his cricket on fast pitches of Australia speaking of how someone bowling express pace tends to mess with the batsman's head sitting in the dressing room. Even with all the bowling machines nowadays bowling 150 and improved safety gear, the fear of getting hit by a fast ball is still there. It's instinct.

Exactly bro !  Even Hayden and Lara talked about the fear they felt while facing 150 k pace. Hayden said that his heart used to beat so fast that he felt it would explode. Even Kohli and Smith, in the chat they had on TV a few years back, talked about the fear of the 150 k+ ball. And these are absolutely top batters who have or had extra time to play pace.  Just imagine what a middling batter or a tailender would feel.

 

If a team has 2 such pacers operating in tandem the opposition will be totally psyched out.  Umran's fearsome first spell in the 2nd ODI led to BD losing 2 more wickets to Washington.

 

If India can have a pace attack of

 

Bumrah / Siraj 

Umran / Sen 

Tyagi / Prasidh

Mohsin / Saini at 8 

 

just imagine the pressure and fear that batters will feel.

India should look to use Saini as the No.8 in test matches as he is batting well these days.

Anything above 145 kmph is hard to play and if you have slight movement it becomes v.tricky. Batters have to anticipate well before time and get into positions.

A batter has fewer seconds to anticipate, react and then play the a shot.

 

Everyone is scared or getting hurt no one like getting hit, thats why we see batters throwing their bats around against v.high pace in hopes of getting some bat. 

There are multiple videos of top batters explaining how they do-not like to face v.high in the nets getting injured is always a possibility.

 

I think only Ind players keep on saying that pace does not matter, even though they do not have prolific stats against v.high pace.

 

 

Also following this thread I think there are v.high hopes on Mohsin Khan, Sen and Tyagi whom we have not seen much/V.small sample size. In my opinion these guys have to prove at lot in coming IPLs.

 

Most of the Ind fast bowlers are getting injured too often should be concerning matter to BCCI, Sen was reported to be injured just after 1 outing, Tyagi is often not playing full year owing to various injuries. Mohsin Khan played just 1 IPL in the and sat out rest of the year. They should work on their conditioning and Stamina.

 

As for Tiyagi and Mohsin they touched 150ish kmph just once, they need to consistent in that bandwidth, and should have a lot to muscle repetition at 150kmph so that they can sustain same pace for longer without getting injured.

I think squad is for only first 2 games...  So yes maybe he is with the team as a backup. 

I don't think he will get to play much red ball cricke nowt as he will be with white ball side mostly. 

Getting game time is crucial for him at this stage. 

I'd love to see a Umran Malik Debut vs Australia in Dharamsala which is a pacy track in India.

Saini seems to be limited in terms of the lengths he can bowl, able to generate pace only from 3 quarter length.  His Yorker attempts are mostly full tosses or beamers.

 

His pushed up bowls are are floaty and and often lacks paces. But he could be 3/4 pacer since Ind is looking to phase-out Ishant, Umesh could also be good option for stop-gap that  Ind needs rt. now as they look for newer stock of test pacers.

 

I think after Bhumra's injury he might need to opt-out of at-least 1 format, and with the Bhuvi and Chahar offering v.limited usage and kind of inability to plug run flow or take wkts, Ind TM may have to ask Bhumra to sit out of Tests and prepare for wcs.

 

BD series (A side or test matches) would  have been great opportunity to throw in some new faces, may be let Simarjeet-CSK RAF leap-frog, as most of the next-inline bowlers are unavailable atm.
