That’s true but Umesh never had that problem. He’s used to it. The problem is if he starts bowling in 120s and low 130s and just floats the ball like that, he’s probably the easiest fast bowler to face. Absolute freebees.

Age does tend to catch up to everyone  Predictably that was his only over with the new ball.

Shamis maintained his speeds much better. He rushed Green with a short one but there was no catcher.

Umesh is looking tired and slow.

 

Never seen him bowl in the 120s before.

 

He is a 35 year old and playing for 12 years.

Shami and Siraj have both bowled a high % of deliveries in the 135 k to 141 k bracket. 

 

And both have touched top speeds of 144 k.

 

Plus Siraj has bowled loads of very nasty bouncers. And Shami quite a few.

Our bowling attack is ageing now, and this match is a prime example of that... Umesh who is 35 has declined in terms of pace (unless some injury he's hiding), Shami though is faster but his average pace is also down from 138-139 to 135-136....I see Umesh retiring by the end of this year and Shami maybe by next year.

 

With Bumrah out of contention for this whole year, we need to build a new pace attack asap around Siraj.

Considering that Umesh's father passed away before the match we should give him a pass imo.

Ind's fast bowling is aging as mentioned above as well, Ishant is already done with Intnl cricket, Bhumrha's return is not certain, Umesh is 35-36 even a single injury will set him out of intnl cricket. I think Shami is also on the same boat as Umesh single injury and they might be done

 

In last 2/3 years Ind has only included 1 young bowler (Siraj) in their line up and other is Undakat. Nearly 4 bowler coming towards end of intl career but this TM and Selection Committee seems to have no plans, There are no A/B side tours planned.

Even in Irani trophy and practice matches Ind is giving chances to ageing bowlers. No new exciting talent in test bowling probables.

I think this TM is hoping to ride on the success the old horses and have no succession plans.

Very regressive mindset. We are very reactionary. Only change when everyone is nearing retirement or injured. Bad ideology. Poor from bcci. They should have injected young blood in this series itself. When you go 2 0 up, that's when young top performers from ranji or a tour should have played. Kuldeep if not injured or prasidh or any of the young guns. There are so many talented fast bowlers. Harshit rana.

Naseem Shah is in much better form than Shaheen. He was troubling the kiwi top order throughout..

Even Siraj has troubled batters in the past, Hardik is a very good white ball bowler

 

Naseem doesn't looks impressive,I doubt his longevity ,he gives me Hassan Ali vibes,story of Pakistani bowlers since Wasim

You played Naseem(better than Shaheen in your words), Haris, Hasnain, Wasim jnr. Usama Mir (best spinner in Pakistan Cup and PSL) and still lost 2-1 to NZ.

I dont think he played the decider. Wasim jr is a spray gun atm and hasnain was always a spraygun, even then the bowling was ok. I rate Naseem, Shaheen, Ihsanullah and Rauf in this order as the white ball pacers with most potential in pak.
