30+ yr old domestic veterans like Mukesh kumar and Unadkut lurking around the Indian nt for a lifetime achievement cap  gives the impression that the cupboard is bare in the country which us not actually the case. Same for Umesh continuing to be picked for overseas tours despite being well past it. Small mercy that they did not call up Ishant after he had a decent ipl.

Picking past-it oldies, in the name of experience, is the biggest disease of this TM and even some earlier ones too. 

They don't take their age into account

If someone has bowled well 4-5 years ago doesn't guarantee they carry that form intact today

Bodies get old with time,more so with amount of cricket today even Bumrah is not same

We should be creating a pool of fast bowlers ready by cleverly rotating them

England at present have done this very wisely,they good set of pacers for each format now(don't compare them now with Anderson and Broad though)

Do they have the same Bumrah and same Ishant? How can Thakur, Umesh and even current Bumrah repeat it. That phase was an abberation when three of our best bowlers peaked. Depth was never really there.

Sen is fit and is playing local club cricket in MP?  Shami has poor record in England. last time too he averaged 34. you cant win series in places like England when your lead bowler averages 34. India only had Bumrah averaging 22.

There's no way they will give some maverick debutant a cap in an important game without injuries unless they have picked him before, it's too much to hope for from the current tm which is extremely conservative. This is true across the board.

This is Shami's record in England. averaging 42 with zero fifer 34 wickets after 12 test matches over three tours. Good enough sample size.

 

Doing same thing and expecting different result is foolishness. Our selections are the biggest mess. Umesh another rubbish selection who is an Indian pitch specialist.

There should have been a succession plan in place of Umesh and Ishant 2 years back.

 

Shami should have been rested in few of the IPL matches, playing 15-16 matches and travelling is not easy, also they should have looked for his replacements 1 year back.

 

Its been 6 month Ind does not have replacement for Pant as well in any format, no one know who is in playing 11 who is not. 

 

Fitness of the player are going south, bowler speeds are reducing, less should be said about Ind's catching. Rohit and Dravid are taking as if they are retiring in sometime so no point in putting brains or body into this. No accountability/ownership from TM.

 

Since cricket has resumed Ind team carries another 15 ppl as support staff, not sure why they need so many ppl for 1 game and series in Ind and sub-continent.

 

All these should have been  pressing concerns for BCCI and they should have called TM and  asked for the reasons. Looks like BCCI has been trapped since the impulsive decision to outset Kolhi-Sastri.

 

BCCI should have taken some time and looked for better coaching team.

Simple point Bhai, unfortunately BCCI don't believe in that.

 

I think many of people here were vouching to include Siraj in Tests from 2017-2018, when did he got his debut...in Australia in 2020-2021 when Shami, Bumrah, Umesh, Ishant...all were injured. They were so desperate that they even picked Kartik Tyagi who was a 18 year kid at that time.

 

When pacers became fit, Siraj replaced Ishant...but no initistive was taken for Umesh who is around 36 years of age now. BCCI and TM never did a long term planning. All they do is to bring Unadkut and Mukesh as stop gap Stepney to manage the things. There is no long term plan with BCCI. They even brought back Rahane who has a mediocre Test average of less than 40...because they didn't give chance to any new batters during the domestic test matches.

These days he looks uncomfortable bowling anything other than good length deliveries.
