Wanting batting option at 9, at the cost of a more versatile bowling attack, showcases defensive mindset. 

 

I would say this even if Axar ends up.taking a 5 fer ... as wrist spin is likely to be more potent if the pitch offers less help than expected ... and one has to plan for all circumstances. 

 

This is why I wanted Kuldeep.

The Indian cricket fraternity, over the years, have always wanted bowlers who work if the conditions,are very favourable for them. 

 

Spinners who take lots of wickets only if the pitch is aiding a lot of turn and uneven bounce. 

 

Pacers who take lots of wickets only if the ball is swinging consistently.  ( This changed in the 2018 to 2021 period but is coming back again ).

 

Difficult to understand why !!

Agarkar think Mukesh,Avesh can perform like Shamar

He got most of his wickets in the second innings bowling the way you would in the subcontinent which doesnt' happen that often in Australia where you use a lot more of bounce. Full, quick and usually attacking the stumps. It's why his ER is on the higher side.

Hope our dumb selectors taking note. Our Mukesh, Avesh, Arshdeep can't produce such spells in Aus.

What happened to the 145 k to 147k / 148 k accurate yorkers / full balls by.Bumrah ?

 

He was bowling too cutely to lower order batters. Trying to outwit them when all that is required is some quick accurate yorkers.

 

7 wickets on this track by a pacer looks impressive on paper. But we let the tail wag and score. Bumrah has the tools to blow away the tail ... but didn't use them.
