Himanshu Chauhan  4 for 19 so far in the 2nd innings, reducing Uttarakhand to 95 for 6.

 

Among our new quicker pacers, this kid really knows how to take wickets. 19 wickets from 5.5 innings.

He was bowling too cutely to lower order batters. Trying to outwit them when all that is required is some quick accurate yorkers.

 

7 wickets on this track by a pacer looks impressive on paper. But we let the tail wag and score. Bumrah has the tools to blow away the tail ... but didn't use them.

After scoring and taking a lead of 190 they decided to take it easy and they expected England to just roll over. Dint happen.

He need some competition to fire him up.

Siraj often goes missing & Shami is on last legs. Bumrah is simply the only set bowler across formats.

TM and selectors have no-plan and looks clueless. This is an aging team. They have taken team where you need complete overhaul.

There was no replacement plan no bench building. Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami  are almost done. You need to pull out Bhumrha out of atleast 1 format or he is just 1 injury away...

 

Virat and Rohit (Rohit in particular) are at the last stages of their carrier.

brat can still play for a few years at least in ODIs. he has had a second coming of sorts. agree with the rest.

 

a future-looking team, irrespective of how they perform at the start, could have looked as follows:

 

1. sai sudharsan

2. Jaiswal

3. ?? [lacking good no. 3, maybe patidar?]

4. kohli

5. sarfaraz/rinku/patidar

6. jurel (and pant when he returns)

7. sundar

8. axar/suthar (suthar is the forward-looking choice)

9. kuldeep

10. harshit rana/some young speedster

11. bumrah

Bumrah plays 2 formats effectively.

 

Test matches and the LOI format which has the next WC.  Even then he is rested for most bilateral LOIs like he is not playing T20Is now even though there is a WC coming for this format. 

 

I think he gets enough rest. 

 

But take Bumrah out and the rest of our pace attack looks below par. Siraj blows hot and cold and Shami is aging. Plus he has never been a leader of the attack. Performs well only if there is a leader.

 

No one else has been developed and spots are being filled by innocuous pacers who are basically "also rans".

Siraj has 7 wkts in 7 tests in india,last 4 tests have yielded 1 wkt.He isnt suited for dry conditions .They leave out umesh to pick him .Atleast pick a batsman in his place.

I can’t believe how moronic the bowling selection has been in recent times. A nation of more than a billion and the only backups these guys are interested to have are Avesh and Mukesh.

 

It’s been years since they’ve introduced any new quick. Like WTF is going on??

Firstly, they’ve completely mishandled a guy like Umran. Almost everyone with a sane head has pointed that out. They haven’t developed guys like Harshit, Tyagi, Mayank.

We’ve got England trying guys like Atkinson. SA developing Coetzee. Berger getting chances. And then S Joseph (and also A Joseph) has single handedly given WI a win bowling 145k and bullying Aus batters. 

Bumrah has been decent but he’s not the guy who’s gonna crank it up every time. Siraj is an absolute passenger in these conditions. Even Umesh used to at least try and bowl quick and get those crucial breakthroughs with reverse swing. And worst of all Rohit is so f inept at handling pace bowlers. I don’t even think he gets along with Siraj or trusts him. I woudnt have in the team but if u have him then you gotta trust him. 

I don’t even feel like watching this team 80 percent of times.
