Speeds and Performances of Pacers and Spinners

No matter the format, this has become a pattern - When ever batters come attacking on Ind bowlers, Ind find it hard to stop the run flow or to get wkt. Ind miss enforcer. No bouncers, no out of box-thinking,  no innovation no creativity

We saw this in 2 WTC , Against Eng when  Chahal and Kuldeep pair was on the prime, Against NZ in latest WC where Daryl  Mitchell went after Ind bowlers and 400+ total looked chase-able

Siraj has been flat after that Asia cup, In WC he was not touching his top speeds.

Has been ordinary since then

he was always an inconsistent bowler, but now he is very consistent - at sucking badly

Indian pacers want to depend only on moving the ball.

They have the pace and bounce but don't want to use bounce as a weapon.

They lack fast bowlers' mentality.

Sad !!

With that we have a freeloader fast bowling coach, whose interest seems lies somewhere else

When Arun was the coach, the Indian pacerx were more aggressive and hostile in their approach.

And our pacers' approach really irritates me these days when the ball is not moving. They keep bowling the lengths that are suitable for the moving ball. They don't want to bounce the ball.

We lost SA 22 twice, England 22 and WTC Finals 21 and 23 due to this timid approach.

I understand that our coach is a doofus, he was a below average cricketer and so far has been even lower grade coach.

But likes of Bumrah has enough experience to judge what's right and wrong for them. They don't need a bowling coach like Mhambrey to get to devise plans...unless Rohit is being a stubborn here.

Bumrah's approach has been very disappointing on flat pitches since 2022. His amazing performances, when the ball is moving, masks how ordinary he has been, when the ball is not moving.

It is similar with Shami too, since 2022.

Our 2 best pacers don't want to bend their backs for the last 2 years.

We will keep losing on flat pitches, especially away from home, due to this reason.

If they don't practice bouncers enough in nets, they won't bowl it in the match as misdirected bouncers can go for runs.

Secondly, bouncers impact a lot on your back. You have to be a strong fellow like Neil Wagner or Mitchell Johnson to actually bowl such deliveries repeatedly on the constant basis.

I don't think Shami or Bumrah or Siraj are practicing it enough, plus the injuries also cause a fear in their minds as they're playing repeatedly across formats plus the IPL.

When Siraj was bowling in nets, the coaches didn't find out that he is bowling without any fire, planning.

They are ready to select Mukesh but not taking a risk and bowling Akashdeep in the company of seniors ie Bumrah,Ashwini,Jadeja,Kuldeep

Neil Wagner bowls at 124 to 130

Varun Aaron to wrap up red-ball career after ongoing Ranji Trophy season

"My body won't allow me to continue bowling fast in red-ball cricket, so I have decided to quit

"

"Pace is my favourite thing while bowling," Aaron said. "Whenever I bowl, my only focus is to bowl as fast as I can. But you need to understand your body too."

I am not asking Bumrah and Shami to bowl bouncer barrages.

But surprise bouncers, maybe one an over on an average, need to be bowled to push the batters on the back foot / make them circumspect about coming on the front foot and make the following fuller balls more effective if there isn't consistent or sufficient movement.

Pacers from teams, who have a history of high quality fast bowling, always use surprise bouncers and never allow batters to camp on the front foot. Bumrah used it in the 2nd test in South Africa when the ball was not moving and got a 6 fer.

Then there is the back of a length rising ball which needs to be used frequently too with the same objective as above. And they take the edge too.  Bumrah used it in Vizag.

Just pitched up bowling, without adequate movement, is recipe for ineffective bowling.

P.S .. Both Bumrah and Shami used the surprise bouncers and rising short balls till 2021.
