If 2 of our premier fast bowlers are choosing to bowl a tad slower than they used to, and have started avoiding bouncing batsmen up, and if we see that the newer bowlers being inducted are military medium pace, it just means that the bowling style of our premier has been instructed to change from the team management or bowling coach. Such coincidences do not happen on their own.

there is move to bring that horrible phrase "military medium" into the picture. soon, we will have ganguly-level bowlers opening the bowling

I have always maintained the same thing. And I am certain of it. The day genuine pace bowlers become a norm, quota players will not find a place in the team. And that will be a monetary plus power loss for many, including people at the very top level. 

Indian system has always been corrupt. We have seen phases in the past, like the one during Dhoni. Where he intentionally didnt let any genuine pace bowler play because that would have shortened his wicket keeping career and affected his batting. We also know of Kapil Dev's era when bowlers like Yograj, Prashant vaidya, Srinath were not encouraged to satisfy the ego of one person. 

Currently we have a coach who, in the past has openly said Indians are not built to bowl quick. And a bowling coach who has no credentials.

Ubaid Shah who recently played the U19 worldcup for Pakistan bowls around 90 mph. Surprisingly quick for his age.

He is Naseem’s youngest brother and was the highest wicket taker at the world cup for Pakistan. What a talented family. 
Someone needs to get Ali Raza into the system.

so, I guess we can expect 3-4 good years out of this new "speed demon". just like with Amir (who was bowling in high 140s as a teenager), just like shaheen (trundling now), just like rauf (whose pace will go down soon enough), and so forth.

 

you should be objective and acknowledge this trend, much like how a number of fans on ICF have written about India's MO weakness - see the thread on our "weakest batting lineup"

While I dont disagree with this sentiment for most, its a terrible awful comment for Dravid to make.

 

Part of his role, is to inspire and motivate players to perform. This a negative line of thinking, not surprising from a "negative" player, in terms of attacking cricket during his career.

Why is it a surprise for a 23-24 yr old to bowl at 90mph?

Most of us had this same impression during Dhoni's regime. And it's true that he did not like genuine pacers. 

 

But compared to this current TM even Dhoni was much better at supporting pace and bounce. In a backdrop of our pacers having no credentials ( a stark difference now in comparison when we have pacers like Bumrah and Shami as benchmarks ), he introduced Umesh, Aaron, Shami and Bumrah.  Probably Ishant too. And apart from Aaron, all others got decent support. He played the super tall Pankaj Singh too.

 

Our 2015 WC bowling attack in Australia had Shami, Umesh and even Mohit bowling really quickly. (  Compare this with our 2022 WC floaty bowling attack in Australia with Bhuvi, Arshdeep, Harshal and Shami was added last minute ) 

 

Only genuine pacer, who has debuted in international cricket and played more than 5 games under this TM, is Umran and he got very little support after that. 

.

In a backdrop of us having a fast bowling culture starting 2016, this TM has reached new lows in terms of support and development of genuine quicks.

Bumrah and Siraj will bowl with a lot of freedom. Hitman will set very attacking fields.

 

550+ runs to defend is a lot.

Vicious bouncer by Bumrah to Stokes.

 

The next fuller ball had Stokes stuck.at the crease.

 

Why not use the surprise bouncer a bit more when you have such s vicious bouncer ??
