Agarkar is bringing in quick pacers.

Team India .... Bumrah, Harshit, Prasidh.  Mayank played too when fit.

India A .... Gurnoor, Harshit, Prasidh, Yash T

Sen is not performing this season.

Problem is the NCA .... who are ruining the fitness of genuine quicks like Mayank, Umran, Tyagi

Sen is a lost cause, we missed him for 2-3 years. Now he is around 28-29...still searching his place. Same goes for Prasidh, who too will be 30 y.o. in couple of months

Gurnoor, Harshit are ahead of the rest. Eden Apple Tom is bowling well, Ashok Sharma has been steady in his debut season. Mayank is a T20/ODI prospect currently unless he really works on his fitness. Tyagi has wasted a lot of time and I don't think any selector is even watching him, same goes for Umran. BCCI simply wasted their potential.

He did get chances in LOIs.

I meant chances after the was dropped lol.

The point is common sense. If u bring a young prospect without domestic experience by betting on his potential, U can’t just drop him out of international side with nowhere to go n try to first start looking for domestic opportunities to even get back.

There were lots of A tours at the time. He could have been included in those. Doesn’t matter if he “ no test” material. Are domestics only LOIs? Or bring him back against low impact series.

Umran was not wanted by Dravid and Rohit. Laxman did not encourage him either as a temp coach.

And Umran himself seemed disinterested in half the Ranji matches he played in.

Then he got injured for a year.

Yes  .... he could have been tried in more India A Unofficial ODIs before injury a year back.

I get the impression that Agarkar basically picks pacers who are favoured by the current TM, be it for the Senior Team or India A.

What u highlighted is proof that he simply isn’t good enough at his primary job of seeking talent. That’s my biggest problem with him. Needs to grow some balls.

I blame Dravid directly for this decline in our pace bowling. He is the one who went back from Kohli Shastri era of good wickets and encouraging fast bowlers.

People were then happy because we were still getting results, but that change in approach screwed our pace bowling pipeline completely and we went back to the pre Kohli era of spin dependent pitches and pace bowlers being second fiddle.

Gambhir is a confused soul without much direction but everything we were building towards fast bowling under Kohli Shastri was then destroyed under coach Dravid.

He has been injured for more than a year now. So couldn't have been picked in any squad.

In the last 15 months or so, Bumrah does not warm up sufficiently before matches.

First 6 to 9 balls are often 7 to 8 kph slower than his later balls. A bit less accurate too.

I would expect the best fast bowler in the world to improve this aspect.

Irrelevant again. I’m not talking about the present.

What is Nitish Reddy's role in the test team ?

He bats at 8 ... which is the slot for a specialist bowler who can bat a bit.

Nitish is not even a good backup bowler, let alone a specialist bowler. And he is not a specialist batsman yet.

At 8, we need someone like Harshit or any other proper pacer with some batting ability. Or an Axar or Harsh Dubey if we are looking for a spinner.

I am also not talking about the present. I am talking about last two years where he has been injured. for last two years, even missed IPL due to injuries. How can someone be picked if he is injured.

We need to groom proper batsmen instead of bits and pieces players. Need to bring in Rinku Singh in test cricket.
