He can still bowl 140 to 145 k spells whenever he wants. Expect him to play for 4 to 5 more years. But Gurnoor would be a very nice addition to our test and ODI squads. However, if things go well for Deepesh, I think he is the natural successor to Bumrah. The guy seems to have the hunger, and he has that X factor in him. But that is going to take about 2-3 yrs from now. I am a little sceptical about Gurnoor. He has all the ingredients. However, he doesn't come across as a destroyer like a 'Bumrah'. Also, I personally feel he hovers more around late 130's, than a natural 145+ bowler. Although, his bounce is a killer. He can be a great 2nd bowler. For now, Siraj will keep the mantle. I have hopes on Harshit, let's see what he does. Ashok has very high potentials, so does Eden. But I look at them more as a 1st change bowler, or the natural support to the strike bowler. express bowling Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 (edited) Having watched Gurnoor in both FC and 50 over matches this season, what stands out is his high % of 140 k+ balls and maintaining sufficient accuracy and steep bounce while doing this. Was averaging 142 kph in List A today .. but even in Ranji Trophy, while bowling his 4th spell of the day, he was crossing 141 kph regularly and not spraying the ball. He is definitely better than both Harshit and Prasidh at maintaining 140 k+ speeds and accuracy. Only weaknesses is the half volleys he sometimes bowls with the new ball in an attempt to get swing and some down the leg balls. Otherwise he can bowl channel balls, stump directed balls, yorkers and nasty bumpers. Edited January 13 by express bowling Mosher and bouncers 2

Once Bumrah retires, its just a matter of time when Siraj too is dropped away. Harshit still has tools to succeed, he's intelligent and bowls to plan. Though his fitness can ditch him, but he can be a premier Test match bowler. Prasidh, I have a hunch he will fade away. He is already close to 30, an year or two max. Same goes for Akashdeep, will remain in contention but will never graduate to a top tier. Whatever little I have seen of Gurnoor, I do not see the same body language. I do see that in Deepesh. Obviously, Gurnoor's height gives him that extra and that uncomfortable bounce. About Siraj, I don't think he has lost in quality. His pace has always been up and abouts. Also, I do not see Siraj quitting or not being given chances once Bumrah retires. Siraj seems to have atleast 2-3 yrs more than Bumrah in International cricket unless and until his performance dips down tremendously. I dont see that happening. Siraj, Gurnoor, Ashok, Deepesh, Harshit need to be in reckoning for the test team, no matter what. And I know there are loads more bowler with good pace, around.
