Ashok's 3rd spell has been poor.

Has not displayed understanding of this really slow and low pitch and has kept bowling half trackers.

Not a good sign.

It will take time remember this is his first match

This is why Vipraj Nigam is being backed despite his ordinary stats.  The man gets high dip on the ball which can induce false shots.

Yash Raj Punja looks like a monster prospect. High dip and turn combined with a good release height.

Parag gets massive turn for a part time spinner which is why having him as a sixth batsman +6th bowler would add some real depth to our ODI cricket.

Was it that difficult to assess that this is not a pitch for bowling 3 to 4 short balls an over ?

An international bowler does not always get a lot of time to assess pitch conditions. Especially on away tours. Every venue is different. It's the quick learners who become great bowlers.

Remember Hadlee talking about how he used to use just the first over to assess the pitch and then bowl accordingly. And he did this from a very young age.

I know what he wanted to do.

But this is where pitch assessment ability comes in.

And too many short balls rarely work these days. Even on bouncy pitches.

Ashok looked so good when he attacked the stumps and bowled surprise bumpers. He was getting more swing and seam than any other pacer from either side.

High pace bowlers always gets carried away, nothing new even greats of past have had this minor issue. Its how quickly they learn and understand.

Just 1st game vs an intnl side, he bowled with pace and needs to developed.

SL-A is a solid batting line-up, top #4/5 are proper intnl batters.

He may be instructed by Joshi.

Most coaches feels if one is express pacers,he should bowl only bouncers.

As you know, I am a big supporter of Ashok Sharma and want him to succeed badly.

Young, fit quick, swinging the ball both ways at 147 kph+, is very rare.

But we know how it is in India. Tyagi, Umran, Sen, Mayank all got sidelined after a couple of bad performances or 1 injury. Ashok himself got dropped from IPL 2026 after 2 bad overs.

Which is why I want him to succeed quickly. Otherwise Kamboj and co. will come in.

They bowl more in the 90-100 kph range.  Small sample size for Manav Suthar but the data is exceptional

Massive turn, drift and dip considering the speeds Manav bowled at in the IPL.   Washi gets the most drift

Want to see this Harshit Rana in England.

Hope he himself sees this video.

He has skill and ingredients but bowls too many slower-ones. These slower ones only work at intnl level when they are bowled with some surprise or there is massive dip in trajectory and pace. Bowling 3 slower-one in an over is no surprise. Batters these days are v.good and even mishit goes for 4/6s

Jadeja was good, the issue was he was batting 1-2 spot too high. Ind batting stops at pandaya and they keep on pushing batters with no power game as finishers which does not work vs top sides.

Yes it may work with sc sides but nt vs top sides , if jadeja was 8/9 batter then Ind would have had a solid batting line , him playing at 6/7 is of no use.

Thanks.

Manav Suthar is awesome !

Can he be tried in ODIs too ?

And Washington is good enough for a batting all-rounder. Plus he gets bounce. Will be handy in SA.

Possible.

We saw that with Umran too.

Hahah yeah I remember this too.. they used to ask Umran to bowl short exclusively and kept mid on mid off up.

Umran being shorter and skiddier couldn't generate bounce and used to get thrashed.

Everytime he bowed full and straight he looked a different bowler.
