Gollum
Celebrates First-Ever Basketball Win Over China 5th FIBA Asia Cup Wuhan, China [Karan Madhok]: Team India got one of its biggest victories in their 78-year basketball history win a momentous upset of hugely favoured hosts China at the 5th FIBA Asia Cup at the Wuhan Sports Center. As the clock expired, the jubilant Indian bench – led by Head Coach Scott Flemming – celebrated India’s 65-58 victory, a moment that will be remembered by the players and the coaching staff of India for years to come. This was India’s first ever basketball win over China, and more astonishingly, it came on China’s home court. China have been Asia’s best basketball side for decades, and currently ranked 12th in the world, highest in the continent. Playing as hosts, they were the favourites to win this tournament and started off with two wins in two games against Indonesia and the mighty Iran. But China were struck down by an unlikely but determined opponent. India – who lost their first game to Japan – were much sharper on the defensive end this time around. India started the game off positively on both ends of the floor as they led by 13 early after the first period. As expected, China closed the gap by forcing India to several turnovers and at halftime, India’s lead had shrunk to just two. Both teams continued their neck to neck action in the third quarter, but China had the better of India at the end of the third and were up 50-48. India, long maligned of their ability to finish close games, flipped the script in the final period by a dominating fourth quarter. Pratham Singh hit three shots from behind the arc in the final period, and on the other end, India forced China to several turnovers. India’s win was assured with timely free throw makes in the final minutes, and the team celebrated wildly when the buzzer expired. Amjyot Singh scored 13 points while Pratham Singh added 13 too to secure India’s win. India were able to survive strong outings by their opponent’s Gao Shang and particularly Zhou Qi, the 18-year-old rising star for China. Celebrations continued in India’s locker room after the game. Coach Scott Flemming, the former Head Coach of the NBDL Team Texas Legend, had been at the helm for India for almost two years now, and was overjoyed to experience this moment for his side. “I’m so happy for these players. And I’m so happy for the country of India. I’ve coached for 32 years in the USA, and the only reason I came here – win or lose – was to make a difference in the lives of these players.†Final Score: India (Amjyot Singh 13, Pratham Singh 13, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi 10) beat China (Gao Shang 12, Zhou Qi 12, Hanlin Dong 10) 65-58 (24-11, 9-20, 15-19, 17-8). - BOX SCORE http://www.indiabasketball.org/News/ArtMID/903/ArticleID/2539/India-Celebrates-First-Ever-Basketball-Win-Over-China :hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff:

Vilander
Lost to Iran -- Philippines is a very good team too. QF means nothing - Out of 9 teams 8 made to QF. China will play Singapore ( un seeded) and move to semi . India has to play Philippines ranked 30 places above, if they win then they go to face Jordan/Iran if not they face Taiwan/Japan -
Laaloo
Just watched the highlights, looks like the Indian players need to create more space, pass more, stop going after the ball all at once, and stop CHUCKING up 3's from 50 feet away. Stop bing kobrick
