Dhoni has the no.1 fan following in India after the retirement of Sachin and Saurav. Earning is directly proportional to fan following. Dhoni is no.1 right now and no one can challenge it. That i somewhat i agree. I have made some comments like this on social page. I had lukewarm response. Even my very close friend back in India is convinced he is the best available.

And thats not just because there are many good players today or because he was so good - though both of these factors are true. Its because the 90s era was just so different and his innings mattered much more to the people than they do today. Today there are too many other things (be it other sports or social media etc) so cricket is no longer that big a part of people's lives.

I agree.there are many dhoni fans and the main reason was the wc along with his youth icon image and explosive hitter back in 2006-2008. These guys though,hardly watch test matches or even one dayers as a matter of fact.

maniac Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Dhoni is well liked bcoz people have this mis/conception that he is this humble small town middle class boy who became a superstar through his hardwork but still maintains his roots.....we all like a success story but when you let t get it you that is when people despise you.
