Laaloo Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Yup Clock has reset We have managed to win one test. It was incredible. Dhoni can stay as long as he wants :icflove:
JaiRamesh2 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Back to square one. Quicks not coming through, no specialist spinner, no keeper, no captain...
Fontaine Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 On topic - Fletcher needs to go asap. Dravid must be coach. Dravid isn't going to be coach. One of the reasons he retired was to spend more time at home and with his family. Let's see, relax at home for most of the year, then get highly paid to do occasional commentary and analysis, all while being worshipped where ever he goes as a cricketing legend. or Full time coaching with a packed calendar year of back to back limited overs and test match cricket with a dysfunctional board, stupid selection policies, over hyped and under talent cricketers while being trolled by no nothing media and ungrateful fans. Seriously how ill informed are you? Everyone from England to India routinely state Fletcher as one of the most astute batting coaches in the world today and the modern England bowling philosophy that's so successful today was put in place by Fletcher.
kubrickian Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Any captain you choose will make no difference when you have endless stream of trundlers coming to play for the team. These "swing" bowlers will never make any real damage in test cricket. Once the swing goes off, they will be easy to play. You need bowlers who can swing the ball but also have the height, physique and stamina to bend their back and hit the deck, have the ability to bowl some bouncers and can bowl with pace. Unless we have bowlers who have all these qualities, we will struggle to do well overseas consistently. I will blame the retarded coaches at domestic level who are happy with these swing bowlers picking wickets against Ranji sides and don't encourage them to bowl faster and try bowling bouncers and make them into multi dimensional bowlers. They don't have a long term vision for them. A perfect example is a bowler like Pankaj Singh who has the height and build but he basically bowls like Bhuvaneswar Kumar. What's the point of having the advantage of being tall and strong when you don't make use of it ?

When Sunil Gavaskar was removed after Pakistan tour there was nobody to say "We have rubbish bowlers so we will be like this". Captain is responsible. It is his responsibility to pick the right team. He did not give a single chance to Bhuvan in 2 series. Now he was forced to give a chance. Look what he got. so Problem is not with the team . problem is with the jackass captain who is a stubborn mule who would go to an extent to prove what he wants to prove. It is not that hard to see through his idiotic rotation of bowlers. It is easy for any captain to say.. batsmen are bad, bowlers are bad.. so we lost 11 out of 15 tests. When you win a test unusually you come forward to take credit 'i told them to bounce' so i won the match. How long you gus are going to be conned by this con man

Dhoni is like second-hand car salesman who has been trying to flog you the same old crappy vehicle for over 3 years using the same old tired sales techniques. In all these overseas test losses Dhoni is the ONE CONSTANT - others have come and gone yet amongst all the hammerings he is always there watching the house burn and refusing to take any responsibility. Enough is enough now. He is 33 but looks 53 and is empty of any ideas, enthusiasm and just way past his sell by date. He is not the solution anymore but part of the problem.
vvvslaxman Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Even in the IPL he said I believed our bowlers would give 200 runs lol he has Ashwin, Jadeja, Mohit, Ishwar, Nehra. Lol no matter which side he captains that side will always look like having the worst bowling attack. Because he does not have plans . He does not attend strategy meetings as he believes that it restricts his thinking lol. He admitted it himself. He always finds someone to blame. He blamed McCullum after IPL semi.
undisputed chap Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Dhobi should stay captain till aus tour. Maybe we can use WI home series as an audition for the new captain.
Laaloo Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 I am just baffled at how Ashwin has been treated this tour. I get it he hasnt bowled in overseas matches very well. But man, almost no overs given to him in a freaking tour match. And he plays for :csk: You would think he's a automatic shoe in for the playing XI!!

cricketfan28 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 dhoni played some good knocks ...we still have 2 matches .. we might win the series also
Deleted_User_1 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Can't take this anymore. Bad selections after selections. No accountability after losses and losses. No improvement shown at all. And no hunger Pack your bags and leave. Do the right thing Triple C (Chewt.. batsman, Chewt... wicketkeeper and most importantly Chewt.. captain) is going no where. Any self respecting person would have relinquished captaincy by now, but not this Jharkhandi. As for the fat feck? Well...if BCCI babus are giving him free money, then why not?
Ram Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 It is quite reasonable to say that this is as far as MSD can a take a test team at this stage of his captaincy - We are likely to win most, if not all of our games at home. Away, at best can be competitive and still lose (like we did in South Africa, New Zealand and likely in England as well). At worst, we could be mediocre and lose badly (like we did in England and Australia in 2010-2011) When we went through that terrible 0-8 against England and Australia 3 years ago, everyone was extremely critical of MSD’s captaincy. But even the most ardent critics cut him some slack because the consensus feeling was MSD was essentially carrying a bunch of dead-wood in his team – A group of seniors – Dravid, Sehwag, Sachin, VVS, Zaheer, Bhajji etc - who were well past their primes and that simply didn’t have the mojo to perform consistently at test level. None of them are in our test team today. This is essentially a brand new test team. More importantly, the current core of 15-16 players is likely to be the nucleus of our test team for some time in the future. And THIS is where MSD’s captaincy comes into play. I don’t think, in his head, he truly believes that he can away with this group of players. He always seems to rationalize every defeat by pointing out to a deficit of talent/skill, especially in the bowling department. That is very demoralizing to this young group of players. Long story short – it seems like MSD goes into test series abroad with the expectation of losing. That is a very hard place to start as a captain and then win from there. And then of course, there’s the elephant in the room – his test batting abroad. It is very hard to be extremely critical of a guy who scored a 50 in the first innings of the last test (and scored a 80 in the first test), but its just not the sheer quantity of runs he is making abroad, but the manner in which he does them that is also damning. His test batting abroad inspires no confidence whatsoever, he almost always fails in key moments and whatever quantiy of runs he does make, can be misleading because they often come in dead-match situation. After nearly 7 years of observations, I think it is reasonable to pronounce that MSD the test batsmen abroad is incompetent, almost even impotent. And it’s hurting us badly. That no.7 spot is so valuable in test matches these days and to have somebody who is incapable of consistently performing there is damaging India’s chances in test cricket abroad. Btw, popular to contrary opinion, I don’t think that MSD has cemented his place as India captain using super glue and cannot be usurped at all. Popular opinion in 2012 seemed to indicate that the selectors were this close to stripping his captaincy after the 0-8 debacle, but Srini intervened to keep him. I am sure there are a lot of murmurs within the corridors of BCCI in terms of what’s next for MSD. If they cannot see the writing on the wall now, they cant see it ever. Better still, maybe it’s time for MSD to do himself a favor and step aside from the test side. By all accounts, he is supposed to have considered retiring from international cricket altogether after the 2015 WC. If there’s even a semblance of truth in that, now is the time for him to step aside from test duties and focus all his energies into defending the world cup crown in Australia (which is going to be one hell of a challenge) MSD has been a great, GREAT servant of Indian cricket, one our very best ever. It’s a shame that a majority of the fans here cannot step back and step back and appreciate the totality of his achievements, but often throw disrespectful barbs at him after getting lost in the disappointment of the moment. His eventual (exit) from Indian cricket will be an irreparable loss for Indian cricket. But now is the time for him to accept the inevitable. Make no mistake, it’s in fact a burden to India captain, a burden that MSD has carried for the last 7 years admirably with a true sense of responsibility and patriotism. But his presence in the test side is hurting our test chances. It is time to move on.

Sachin=GOD Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Does M$D need to go from Tests - yes. Does he think he needs to go - I don't think so. Does the BCCI think he needs to go - I certainly don't think so.
Ram Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Just as an aside, I think it was extremely interesting that the selectors included a back-up keeper in the selection party. The logical response to that would be - 'Well, they are going on a 5 test series abroad.. what if MSD gets injured, they need a back-up..' That maybe true if we are talking about a regular keeper, but this is MSD. The guy's a force of nature and has never had previous incident of missing games in tour due to injury. My guess is that the strategy behind taking Ojha was to groom a replacement keeper. I honestly feel, irrespective of the outcome this series, MSD's exit from test cricket is imminent.

I think this time the reason was simply that its a 5 test series. BCCI hasn't exactly been known to have a vision w.r.t. planning succession. Besides, I don't think they have decided upon any one keeper as a replacement for Dhoni - the likes of Kartikh, Saha and now Ojha etc all have a chance IMO. As for Test retirement being imminent -I also think that. Though I'm not sure that Dhoni feels that right now.
