There's merit in that argument but thats a complete 180 degree turn in your planning and strategy before such a crucial test. Not worth the risk IMO. As I said, had we lost or drawn Binny going out would have been a certainty. With the win, difficult to see why you would change a winning combination.

Just because we won a test match after so many years doesnt mean that we dont try to improve our team. I mean I am not asking to change the whole team. I am asking for one person to be replaced who doesnt look like he has the captains backing and looks pretty useless apart from one innings. One win after many years should not mask our shortcomings. If we can improve by changing one player, then so be it. In the first Test, these are the overs Binny bowled: 16th over, 40th over, 42nd, 44th, and 46th. Then didnt bowl all the way till 106th over for a 1 over spell. Then came back again 133, 135, 137 and the 139th over. Out of 145 overs bowled, he got a measly 10 overs. In the 2nd match, Dhoni showed a little more confidence in him by bowling him in two spells in the first innings, but in the 2nd innings didnt bowl him at all. If you are picking Binny as a batsman, Rohit Sharma is better. If you are picking him as a bowler, Pankaj Singh, aaron and Pandey are better. there is really no justification in picking Binny if he is going to bat behind Dhoni and Jadeja and not bowl that much. :dontknow:

We have had batting collapses in every innings uptil now. Kohli & dhawan are not in form, dhoni & jaddu are hacks. Its could cost us dearly. Prospective planning is better than retrospective moaning.

Selection issues are there, because certain batsmen are not pulling their weight and can't be dropped. Which means we look to strengthen our batting with bowlers who can bat and put undue to pressure on the others. Maybe make the touch call and drop Dhoni :)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it If and only if Shami isn't 100%, should Pankaj be given a debut. With a 5 day break, even Shami should be ok before the tests start

Only thing is, binny contributed in NO way. Got an edge but failed with the bat. Rather have aaron who can hold his own with the bat and can get us more wickets. Need 20 wickets man. 4 seamers with bhuvi at 8 and ashwin/jadeja at 7 would be good. Dhawan, kohli and pujara (barring his 50) yet to make big runs.

Yes we are 1 up in the series but there are 3 more tests to go. England might still make a stong comeback so there is no room for complicency. But What you are saying makes sense.. and is logical for even any casual observer. Therefore, MSD will surprise everyone by not doing the expected and will retain Binny. Binny will be the secret weapon that will threaten to bowl and bat, but will do nothing.
