kubrickian
Having 5 bowlers is an option when all your top 5 batsmen are firing. At the moment, only Vijay and Rahane have scored big runs in this series. Even Pujara has failed to convert starts. So you basically have 3 out of 5 batsmen not scoring big runs and then a big tail to follow. That's asking for trouble on a pitch which looks reasonably good for batting. With an extra batsman, there will be less pressure on the top order which will help them come back to form. Dhoni is batting too high at 6. That's pretty obvious. Indian team was lucky that the 5 batsmen experiment didnt prove too costly as the tail contributed a lot of runs. But its not something you can always depend on. Link to comment

Crookbond
Let's trust Dhoni on this. We're still playing 5 bowlers - Rohit Sharma is the 2nd spinner. Link to comment
ThePhenomenal1
if dhawan is not scoring then bring in GG. rohit sharma cant win matches for india consistently. India should have moved on ages ago, he is a lazy, no good match loser. As if india owe him something. Get the f out of here. Link to comment
jf1gp_1
I think its the right move ; just because we got lucky with tail not once but twice doesnt mean we can now rely on them. Binny as it is was a liability so i am glad he is gone. Ashwin has such poor overseas record as a bowler but i would have been fine even if we go ahead with ashwin inplace of rohit. Glad gambhir is not in playing XI, i understand binny made it to the squad thanks to dad but what has gambhir done. I think people have forgotten how poor he was the last time he played a test for india. Link to comment

moniker
Neither Dhoni, Ashwin, Jadeja, Bhuvi nor Binny are good enough to be batting at no 6. It's a specialist batsman's position, or at least a batting all-rounder's. We don't have the resources to start thinking about a 5 bowler strategy. Link to comment

ThePhenomenal1
Are you sure? Check below http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=311042 :--D i was probably referring to his t20 exploits which are worth praising. But everything else he provides no benefit. Can think of so many more better and more deserving and hardworking replacements for tailunt. :finger: Link to comment

undisputed chap
the important thing is we need to continue grinding their bowlers down Link to comment
ThePhenomenal1
ideal combo - ashwin and jaddu + 3 seamers of bhuvi, ishant and aaron or 4 seamers adding pankaj Link to comment
msb1991
The question is how big the difference in batting performance is between Rohit and Ashwin in English conditions? Maybe we could ask the same question about bowling in English conditions too! Link to comment
wanted_desi
If they are playing 6 batters, then why select Jadeja instead of your main spinner. Yeah main spinner can't buy a wickets on pitches, but then why even select him. Where is Ohja? Link to comment

Maybe we could ask the same question about bowling in English conditions too! Ashwin is a proper batsman. Rohit is just :giggle:, yeah he will score 100s on flat tracks but if there is anything in pitch he will be back in no time as seen in Nz and SA. Link to comment

Ojha averages worse than both Ashwin and Jaddu despite playing exclusively in SC.Not sure why hes seen as the saviour. As for Jaddu,he did create chances on 4th day but those werent converted bcoz keeper and close catchers were standing 2 meters back for some reason.Alsoa lbw was denied Link to comment
SLICKR392
Let's hope tailunt comes good in this match. It's will be a very bad time to not to score runs with Virat struggling. Need to go 2-0 up! Link to comment
