So you see now, 5 bowlers for current Indian team is suicidal

If the 6th batsman was a proper Test bat then it would be justified, but to bring in a batsman like Jadeja or RS is of no use. There are just too many mistakes by the top order this series, adding any number of batsmen wont guarantee a better result. All boils down to application.

well you could go for anti rhoit brigade 1 Dhawan 2 Vijay 3 Gambhir/Oijha 4 Pujara 5 Rahane 6 Kohli Kohli at 6, adds real depth and may take him out of firing line for a while
But this lineup will be under tremendous pressure, invariably they will have to bat out draws with a weak bowling attack and rotation of bowlers will be difficult, especially if you are going to play Aaron who is best used in short spells.

I can't believe Gambhir still has support. He contributes absolutely NOTHING in a match. Cannot bat, cannot bowl, cannot field. Anyone at Ranji trophy level can replace him today and will still contribute more.

bowled out in one session 90-9 Do I need to say more why need runs as priority over rotation of bowlers?

Dhoni, Jadeja, Binny, BK, Ashwin not proper batsman and putting any of them at 6 really weakens batting and is accident waiting to happen

Well if you wont those 6 then go 1 Dhawan 2 Vijay 3 Rahane 4 Pujara 5 Oijha 6 Kohli 7 Dhoni 8 Ashwin Suddenly much stronger line up, depth

Need to try some one like Manoj Tiwary could solve both issues or atleast a start.

Well play another batsman then as 6th batsman?
yes if we unearth some proper batsman

last time i checked dhawan was a wood cutter :cantstop: 3 Gambhir/Oijha if you meant naman ojha then let him come as keeper not as specialist batman i want rahane at no 4 or 3 he would certainly stop our collapse to greater extent

Silly point and you know it. Don't win nothing being bowled out in one session and being 90-9
yes but then you can change the non performing batsmen. Why carry them and add one more?Bring that one guy as a replacement for a non performing bat.

So you think the 6th batsman (considering who we have and their form) would have taken the 90-9 to 250-9. Also no one wanted Binny as one of the 5 bowlers. He ain't a bowler. Plus when top order is this hopeles, even Ambrose, Akram and co will find it hard to make a match out of it (we got the bad conditions to bat and bowl - but I agree that can't be used as a complete excuse as we have been hopelessly pathetic and such things happen in cricket). Add in drop catches, missed lbw, Dhoni's captaincy and you will see our bowling wasn't bad. In fact, with Bhuvi tiring like hell and Ishant nowhere near his best (even though he was bowling economically) - if we had gone with 4 bowlers, we would have got thrashed even more. In the earlier days we used to have Sachin, Sehwag and Ganguly to roll over their arms and perform the role of the 5th bowler. Even Raina used to do it when he was a member of the test team. Now we don't have anyone.

Having 5 bowlers will obviously help our bowling But look at our batting, paper thin, to have 5 batsman only is suicidal with current line up
Bhai decide if you want rohit sharma in team or not. If selected you bash the decision if we go for 5th bowler then you miss him and no dont throw some random name who should be the 6th batsman select one from the squad. Bottom line is we have sucked so bad this series that poor captaincy is not even in top 5 reason why we lost last 3 test.

We badly need a proper no.6 batsman who can bowl decent seam-up deliveries. That is the long-term solution in outside subcontinent tests. Who are the available options ? Abhishek Nayar ? Who else are there ? Similarly .... a proper batsman who can bowl decent spin in the subcontinent Vijay, ..... who else ?

Adding half batsman won't make it a book. If you add Rohit it would have become thinner lol

I have not seen Nayar play much. If he is not good then no need to take him. It was just a representative name. My point is to look for a proper batsman at no.6 who can bowl decent medium pace atleast. Taking Nayar is not the point. Hence, the question mark after his name in my post.

Ashwin is our 6th batsman. Very . idea of going for 6th batsman was under the pretext dhoni is a walking wicket. Turned out he has put up his hand too along with Ashwin. They both more than made up for no 6 batsman. If anything if he had gone with 5 proper bowling option from the get go and USED them all bhuvan might not have been this ineffective or Ishant might not have broken down,. Our bowling would have been more potent. But most of iCFers warned this scenario in a 5 test series which we are playing after 17 years with young and inexperienced bowling unit. One could see it from miles bowling would suffer due to fatigue . That is exactly why 6 batsmen selection in third test caused a cascading effect and our bowlers lost our potency completely.
