Succes of IPL effecting India's performance in test?

Looking at India's dismal test from recently you just wonder how the success of IPL has changed cricket before IPL international cricket was the place were players earned their name in India. but now IPL is there were they probably will get more money and fame so desperation won't be that much to succeed in test. Even if look at 2014 IPL you could see that Pujara struggling in IPL try desperately to get runs I felt bad for him and I am sure he would have been try in practice to get few more variety of shots in arsenal so to succeed in IPL and such kind of thing might effect way he plays test So my question how much do think IPL money and his success is effecting test cricket with player wanting to be big part in IPL it which attract masses even though test cricket is considered ultimate test , it has kind of diminished test cricket importance and they way Dhoni says it feels test cricket is just more learning experience

Yes India has been poor in 80s ,90s but we were getting better since 2000 and India cricket interest is very high we have literally no competition to cricket so you would expect India to to keep on getting good players and atleast have team which fights even if they loose its not like we have beaten 3-1 in 3 test we have demolished Regarding second sentence yes we may lesser pool talent but we should atleast give some incentive to concentrate to test with all the money and fame its easier to get attracted to IPL .

Don't see why IPL is an easy devil here. Top Aus,SL,Nzl and S.A cricketers play in the IPL Yeah WI have these specialist T20 mercanaries so no big deal there. Pak and Eng don't play in the IPL and by that logic they should be worldbeaters by now.

100% yes Its a good thing our guys are prioritising what they must - test cricket is so old fashioned and out of place in today's world. It doesn't need to be treated with any sort of respect. IPL and T20 is the way forward, the more popular, accessible and rewarding of formats and should hence be persisted with. By some warped logic, test cricket celebrates a 100 ball 25 whereas a 25 ball 100 is looked upon as "hackmanship" by some retarded old wizened colonial inferiority complex minded guys who want to prove themselves as something superior by pretending to consider test cricket as superior format. Why? because hey, it's the fashion na? I get to look like knowlededgable and "standing out fo the crowd" - get to be different. chillax na? Never mind 90% of these "test cricket lovers" haven't really watched a test match in their life at the stadium and safe to say a vast majority wouldn've have watched even asingle test match from start to finish as well. All power to IPL and T20s. That's the format that's best suited for the current and future generation. A generation which doesn't believe in ill placed romantcicism or show/off but value for money and time.

That would depend on whether test matches draw the same crowd and net income like IPL matches. You can't pay more test money without these matches becoming commercial hits.

Only current Test overseas player in CC is Chris Rodgers for Middlesex. Gone are the days when you had the likes of Lara, Waqar, Murali, and Warne all turning out for counties at the same time. Money I suppose

IPL Offers players huge money and fame which might satisfy them and make word beaters Yes top players play but its the cream who had played quite few matches in their home country in swinging conditions before that there while India's don't play much apart from the tours and also foreign players get lot lesser than Indians so they have will something to prove that they are word beaters. How much did Gambir and Karthick got if Compare with ABD or Clarke I think everyone will agree the later 2 are better players And also with IPL nobody seems bothered if you just here Dhoni I thin for this to change we need more passionate captain and selectors and Board which considers winning test cricket is important then things can better

England lost 5-0 in Australia and even 3-0 right after they became number 1. Did their players partake in the IPL? Australia got beat 4-0 in India and 3-0 in England. What about them? Pak players dont even play in the IPL and they got blanked 2-0 in SL and 3-0 in SA. The truth is barring south africa, (the majority of whom play in the ipl Steyn Morkel JP Faf AB Coq) every team has been blanked when away on tour within the last 5 years. Its just the sign of the era. I am not defending India's record but this blaming of the ipl needs to change.

It is affecting in a way because due to the IPL in May and June months, new batting talents like Pujara/Kohli/Rahane/Sharma and the likes have never played county cricket or sought a domostic season contract in australia or south africa. Therefore, there cricket education is incomplete. They should be ready to give the IPL a miss just like Michale Clarke and the likes to focus on this aspect and play a saeason or two of County cricket/Sheffied Shield/Curry cup . :om:

I don't think so or tough to say. IPL has helped players but I think maybe there is too much of it. I don't think it is to blame but surely young players can play IPL while the test players play some FC gaes or county cricket or at least get allowance to.

Why would test players opt for this hard route and forego millions to play FC or county for a few thousand bucks and see players of half their ability earn millions in the 2 month mickeymouse competition ..this suggestion is impractical ..
