What kind of work did he do with the batsmen? Did he lecture them so much on "correct" batting that they forgot their natural style of batting?

We batted reasonably well in those tests. To get to 295 on that pitch at Lord's was a great effort. In all seriousness, his role was over before the start of the first test if I am not mistaken.

Fletcher had felt that it would be the batting contribution of the lower order that would decide whether India would win or lose!:haha:

Funny how Dravid is getting dragged into some piss poor batting.
