They both don't know their use by date.
Not true for Azhar. He was dropped because of matchfixing issues, not becase of his form. He still remained easily the only worldclass fielder India had and had gone through a recent reneissance in form to do quite well in the middle order.

He had no leadership ability and was playing politics with the team composition. He was a cancer on Indian cricket and I am not even going in match fixing.

All true, which is why he got dropped. But the quote i responded to, was about how they don't know their use-by date, which indicates the poster thought Azhar wasn't putting up the performances a player is expected to (which is what not pulling your weight in sports mean). That is incorrect, Azhar was actually batting really well and was our best fielder when we dropped him.

Azhar was a HTB with an awesome avg of 56 at home but sucked away with the avg dropping to 33 IIRC.that was the case with most Indian batsmen during the 90s eg siddhu, manju etc

He had good leadership and communication skills. But once it went to his head, he was a goner. Was good in 1992 WCs and the 1993 Eng series etc. Almost Stephen Flemingesque. But lost it when he went after that woman and then started to think too much about money than cricket.

Once he got going he was just AWESOME. check his exploits with Tendulkar in SA 1997 series. Outscored and outshone Tendulkar. There was this whip-ondrive of his, the bat speed was so awesome it would come down like a thunderbolt, then just kiss the ball and then shoot back to where it came, and the ball would be racing towards mid-wicket fence. I'd say as a batsman he was on par or even better than Laxman.
