How blind is someone not to see this gathering in Maddison? Rubbish ignorance! Ignorance? Certainly Modi fanatics and the hype followers gathered at Madison Square Garden. 18,000 isn't really that big a crowd for an event so well hyped considering the entry was free as long as one registered beforehand. I am personally a Modi supporter but its important to keep the reality in check. Modi is NO ONE internationally but the Indian media made a HUGE deal about it. I can bet you that close to a 100% of Americans have no idea about this visit. There were some 183 UN leaders in NY for the UN assembly. Not one single US news channel or their websites covered this visit. The only thing I saw was about how this one leader would not eat at a dinner with the president. I loved most of the speech though he repeated majority if it. The last note about NRIs sounded promising, He promises a lot but can he deliver? I think he is the right person for India right now but he is no Sardar Patel. Make no mistake, talking is easier than doing. If he can manage to deliver on 25% of his promises, I can bet my bottom dollar that Indian leaders will gain respect at the UN and everywhere else. I so hope it happens. Now back to ignorance - US spends billions to make the middle eastern countries "democratic" but looks the other way when the biggest democratic elections are taking place in India. They look the other way when the leader of the biggest democracy is on a state visit.
