Even Ashwin and Jaddu havent played 50 Tests.Spinner take time to adapt overseas.They have to chose one and stick with him rather than chopping and changing.Personally that would me Ashwin for me with 4 pacers as he can bat.Spinner shouldnt be a part of bowler attack overseas imo. Anyway,now that they've selected Karn,he deserves a rope.atleast this entire series.
Ashwin and jadeja have played enough international matches overseas, other than pitches in champions trophy which were more like Indian pitches , they have stunk in odis too, that does not mean Karn Sharma is going to be next Shane Warne. Unless you try you won't know David Warner was deemed unfit to play tests but he has scored 10 test hundreds on par with greatest Aussie batsmen.

But if the batsman shows him respect then Mishra is good. Have seen in the last year that batsman prefers to take chances again him knowing that they need 2-3 good hit & Mishra is bread and butter from there on. Karan had so far not bowled bad. Could have been better. But against rampant Warner he couldn't do much. Just hoping that he settles down quickly because he had to help this team badly (specially with clueless bowling from Shami and Aaron)

1st day for a debutant spinner in Aus in Adelaide of all places... Let us wait atleast for 2nd innings??? Imran Tahir went for 180 in 23 overs for zero wickets in Adelaide...Karn got wicket of Warner who would have murdered us more if he was in...

It's not his (Karn's) stats that are the problem. It's just that some of the concerns about him seem unfixable and unrelated to nerves. He isn't suddenly going to start getting draft. He isn't going to start putting move revs on the ball. His disorganized action that contributes to his lack of control isn't going to change. The only thing that may change is his that he starts putting more flight on the ball. But it's a given that he'll revert to flat balls as soon as he gets hit for a four or two. Hopefully I'm wrong. Let's see how he progress for the rest of the match.

True. My only point was that it is too early to call for his head....lets see his 2nd innings bowling atleast ( though I would have loved it be 4th innings of the match )

I am actually glad that Karn is playing out of Jaddu and Ashwin.. I think he will prove his selection.. He'll be handy to wipe out tail...

Was never sold tow him because he doesn't spin the ball(which is thew stock ball for a leggie) and he doesn't have a wrong one.I hope he does well in the next innings
Here's Murali Kartik on Karn Sharma
According to Kartik, the speed at which Karn delivers the ball makes it harder for the batsmen. "He gets the ball to spin at high speeds which is really good. And because of his quicker arms speed and quick action, it is not easy for batsmen to pick him." Karn's googly is not sharp, but Kartik reckons it is "deceptive", making it a wicket-taking ball.

Dravid had said earlier that he preferred that the selectors to go with Karn since wrist spinners "had a greater chance" to succeed in Australia if they bowled straight, had a good googly and were able to extract bounce. He cited the examples of Anil Kumble, Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill as past match-winners. "I just [want] someone who is little bit quicker through the air, who has a good googly and could be someone who could surprise the Australians," Dravid said.

He needs to stop bowling full tosses first to bowl googly or whatever.
how much of day 1 you have seen? Btw, his googly/wrong one doesnt turn sharp.. it turns very slightly but he does it good. IMO, he is a better pick and has better probability to take wickets than Ashwin or Jaddu

And Shane Warne is usually the first to get excited about new and upcoming leggies. Shane was really ripping into Karn

Probably they want a non threatening and wicketless bowler like Ashwin bowling to him in Australia rather then Karan who have more chances to pick wickets. Accepted that Karan struggled on the 1st day of his debut...but then others like Shami and Aaron were struggling more then him. Australian batsman were looking to attack him so as to disturb his bowling & to some extent they succeeded. Hoping Karan can put all those behind and play a important part in this match for winning the Test for India. :pray:

Nice imagination on Karan Sharma :) This is a Test match in Australian pitch, not a T20 in Cuttack :winky:

I am not only talking about performance on first day..Shane warne was analysing his action and his capability in the long run..According to Shane, with this type of action, it will be very tough for him to bowl many variations and take wiclets consistent ly...
