Naman Ojha has two double hundreds for India A in the last tour of Australia a few months back and opens the innings regularly for MP also .

Can someone tell me why Saha was selected over Ojha despite him batting well in India A cricket in Australia just a few months earlier?

He was never tested though, just travelled with the team... So, with Dhoni not playing, he was the first choice keeper. Ojha was a backup for Saha

A Tours are never a benchmark for someone's batting capabilities...bowling maybe......A tour pitches are always flat pattas. Dhawan scored a 250 in a List A in South Africa :haha: Raina scored a 100 in England tour game and Binny was smashing the ball in tour games as well. That is why I don't buy the argument that Ojha is a handsdown winner,but after watching Saha Keep and bat in the 1st test,I think it is time to go with the next best replacement-Ojha

Dunno why so many Indians are vehemently opposed to Saha. Its astonishing. I have heard many say he is a bad batsman. I don't get what wrong he did. I don't get what wrong he did. Ok in Adelaide there was a brainfart but still..... He looked like a compact batsman with a good technique. He is also a good wicket keeper. Yes that dismissal in Adelaide was really poor but he is not he first batsman to make such mistakes. He also got a poor decision in the first innings. With MSD around, he was always a temporary selection. Now he has a chance to make it permanent. I won't write him off without giving him a proper go. We have only home tests after this, So the timing is ideal.
Precambrian Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Saha deserves an extended run. He's very good with the gloves and has shown he can bat. Adelaide hitting out was on orders by team management.

He needs to be in the scheme of things but needs to be punished for his brainless stroke...happened to the likes of Damien Martyn,Kapil Dev and hell even Dhoni when he played an atrocious shot in a test in the Westindies.

Otherwise, why would newbies like Saha and Rahul and the cool and experienced Dhoni go for so many of them.
nevada Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I would go with Saha. Give him one more chance to see if he can improve.Ojha is not even with the side, it would be too much to expect him to fly in, acclimatize and play fantastic in his very first game.
